Few in venice but they are very cane shy. Only way to kill more than a couple is to build blind out in ponds. Low tides, low river and north wind has made most areas downriver unhuntable. Group of guys at landing on wednesday had limit that included wigeon, pintail and greys from upriver.

Grab a kid (hopefully one you know) and go to Bayou Sauvage. I paddled there today for three hours (caught 6 green trout and 4 reds) and there were hudreds of ducks in every pond with water.

I don't duck hunt, but if I did I'd do it right behind my place at chef pass.

Skunked again at Beouf river wma. I thought with this weather coming in I thought it would be Armageddon on ducks.

Ouachita and Morehouse hasn’t really been that great where we hunt. Thought it’d be a good season because of how cold it was gonna be the entire season but it ended up being one of the worse seasons we’ve had. Too much open water and that’s where the ducks are going

We are about 20 birds shy of double what we killed last year.

We smoked the ducks and specks in Stuttgart this weekend. Birds started moving south last night. Should see a big push soon. They high for the next week in Stuttgart is 29 so it will be mostly locked up

Killed a bunch in Jones this morning. Far more duck traffic than there has been since second split opened.

At Bayou Sauvage, can you paddle from landing to some duck hunting spots or do you need outboard? Big boat stays in venice for the winter, but have some kayaks that we could use.

We have had a pretty steady season of birds in Cheneyville. They are just wary of the levees and mojos at this point.

Like "HogsWillRiseup" we had mallards swarming Saturday morning West side of Stuttgart in flooded timber. Great hunt. But our other spot 15 miles west in Humnoke has been absolutely pitiful; no ducks, however lots of Geese.
Weird season for sure.

Yesterday I paddled from my place to "the rocks". The marsh by Chef and the icww is loaded with ducks.

Some of it can be reached paddling, but would not paddle the icww in the dark. Near Lombard by Chico lagoon is a safer paddle.

Better watch yourself around chef pass and sauvage, icww etc.
all newly purchased land and being leased out. They are running fishermen out. I’m lucky enough to know a guy in it and we killed a few birds.
A fellow poster is in with the big timers there and they are slaughtering ducks.

He was fishing he said when he saw the birds. He said grab a kid and you could hunt those birds that he saw on the refuge.
