It is a good engine. What is the 3.6 cam, lifter and rocker failure rate during warranty period the last 10 years vs a GM 5.3?

Everyone I’ve spoken to loves them and yet GM seems to not make many of them.

Agree, they don't stay on lots very long and dealers won't deal on them like the 5.3/6.2 motors if they have one. I wish they'd stick that engine in a Yukon Denali. I'd probably buy the wife one tomorrow.

Make a smart purchase, buy any full size truck with a NA V8 engine, used, with low mileage.

I mean, I wouldn't be scared of a earlier 6.2, coyote 5.0, toyota 5.7, or titan 5.6, or 5.7 hemi with even a little bit of miles. As long as the transmission had 7 gears or less, the hemi and 6.2 weren't ticking, the tundra wasn't on 37s, the coyote had stock exhaust, and I bore scoped cylinder 7 on the titan to make sure ot wasn't eating itself.
For a brief period most manufacturers made a good V8 with a decent transmission.
Then it all went to shite.

Lost all credibility with Jeep in your list.

Not too many people will have the data to give you an accurate response. Nobody is gonna put 100k miles on multiple brand new trucks at the same time..

I just sold my gladiator with 88k miles. 2022 model mojave.
Didn't have 1 issue with it. Not 1. Looking at a new f150 tremor with the v8 for more room. Got one in my sights new here in Houston for 57k. 0 % apr.
But going look at a 2001 f250 7.3 with 71k miles on it first. 33k is high for 20 year old truck. But it looks brand new in pics. Grandpa truck

Its funny when I hear from people who own a 3.6 that haven't had a catastrophic failure act like since they haven't experienced it then the engine must be "actually quite great."
Is it any funnier than people who had one bad experience with an otherwise "good" engine saying all of them are shite?
Look at who drives vehicles with the 3.6 in them. Do you think those demographics are more or less likely to do routine maintenance? I would say they heavily skew onto the "less" side.
I don't think its some incredible platform or anything, but its probably underrated by the detractors and overrated by the fanboys.

This logic is refreshing. Nissan made very reliable vehicles (not including the cvt transmissions) and got a reputation because of the Altima crowd. Same thing but inverse with the GM fanboys that thinks we are still in the 1990s raise hell praise dale era.

Most buyers would love to, problem is a truck that checks all these boxes is becoming more of a unicorn every day.

If I were buying today I think I'd test drive in this order:
1. GMC AT4
2. Ford F150
3. Tundra/Chevy Trail Boss toss up....
Ram gets a solid maybe
I was all in on Tundra until the redesign and I'll drive my 2018 as long as I can with the IForce 5.7 in it.
A buddy has the new design with the turbo 6..... love the interior.... and that's about all I like....

I decided on an f150 tremor 5.0. Pretty basic package. Has trailer package and bed system.
57k 0 apr for 60 months.

Congrats man
It’s really a crap shoot it seems these days. Crazy arse times that we spend this much on a damn truck and we are all looking for the same thing in reliability and no headaches.

Thabks man. Gonna be hard to beat out the taco with over 300k miles for best truck. Happy to be back in full size though.

Agreed, own a 2017 Taco 6cyl and a 2010 Tundra w/5.7. My boys at least have reliable transportation that I don’t have to worry about sinking any money into. Wasn’t looking to buy a new one but I was truckless for a minute
can’t have that

This seems like a really good price. Where and what dealership?

Ford credit. Ends tomorrow.
Some dealers here in houston are giving 7-9k off
Tremor colors are pretty lacking. Went with the space white metallic
First white vehicle that wasnt a company truck

2017 3.6 Pentastar with right at 110k.
Zero issues. It helps that I am the original owner and keep my vehicles well maintained.
