Bowfin and choupique are the same thing. Also known as grinnell, dogfish, and swamp trout.

Biggest one I've ever seen came out of a damn ditch of all places. Thing had to be 3 ft long, and was just chilling in this little hole next to a culvert.

I’ve seen a sunfish before and had about the same reaction.

Where they hell are you diving to be able to see a bowfin in clear water?

Certainly not in Louisiana waters. Ha.

Going to assume FL.

Once, down near Corpus Christi, I caught a bighead searobin, inshore lizardfish, and speckled trout all on golden spoon in a seagrass bed on basically three successive casts in one spot.

Rabbit puffer is the goofiest I’ve ever caught

I am glad you posted this. I caught one back in May wade fishing in Dauphin Island and could never figure out what the hell it was.

That thing has skin like leather and trying to get two sets of treble hooks out of that was a PITA.

Ah, the old Blob Fish. One of the goofiest looking sea creatures I've ever laid my eyes on.

Funny thing is, I know people with the same look, and yeah, they are goofy looking creatures too.
