I'm looking to order a new pair and am looking at Ostrich and Caiman. Just seeing what else is out there.

For comfort elephant and ostrich above caimen or fish imo. My fish boots look cool but don’t wear like the elephants. Another pair of ostrich’s are on my to buy boots.

I have the basic Justin western boots and they are very soft and feel great. A friend has the Lucchese alligator boots and he says they are uncomfortable as hell. $130 versus $500 and comfort versus uncomfortable for looks makes it an easy choice for me. I tried his boots on and I agree they did not feel god at all.

As a rookie boot wearer I think it's natural to start with Square. Once I bought my Tecovas I'm all round now

Lots more comfortable for me, round toes were sold or given away after my first pair of squares.
Your mileage may vary.
Will say the more expensive boots tend to wear better than cheap ones.
I’m a brand buyer now, luchesse don’t fit me right, Justin is owned by warren buffet as is lama, found Anderson bean and there I am. Would wear Rios but price difference doesn’t make sense.

Those two for sure, and lizards can be sweet as well.

Me, personally, along these lines is what I find slick-

After wearing work boots for about 20 years, I bought my first pair of Justin’s and also my first pair of square toes this year. So far they are my favorite boots I’ve owned. I was originally against the square toe but it grew on me. I’ve had wolverines , Red Wings, Irish Setters, Hytest and some others I can’t remember.

Anteater or sea turtle. Both kinda stand out as a bit different.

But not to be had nowadays stateside, so plain leather.

Can still be had IF you can get them across the border.
Buddy from high school bought himself and another guy a pair when he crossed with his wife 30 years ago. He was very proud of them and decided to wear them across. Border inspection guy asked what kind of boots he was wearing and not knowing he told them Sea Turtle. Also told them he had another pair for his buddy in the trunk. Both pair were confiscated and he walked out bare foot telling them if a man didn't have his boots he damn sure didn't need socks.
Said i would never wear square toes until i put them on amd wore out of boot store. Way more comfortable than any round i have ever worn.
