Right now I have Hornady Critical Defense ammunition in .45 ACP for my XDS 45 which is my current every day carry. Never had any issues with it cycling through my gun. Also bought a box of it in .380 for my Ruger LCP 2 I picked up a couple weeks ago.

Just curious what others are carrying and their experiences with it at the range. I'm open to trying out different brands.

I have plenty of this but am looking for something better; we need to repaint the interior of our house and want to make sure if some a-hole breaks in, repainting is necessary.

This and Hornady Critical Defense for 9mm.

Also have some 2-3/4" Winchester, #6, target load on deck for the 870 pump...no plug.

I'm curious about the Winchester Ranger T-Series (the new Black Talon). They look pretty gnarly...like shooting a shuriken out of a gun.

Glad to see everyone is using factory loads.

It's a huge mistake to use a handload for a self defense round, I even argue that you shouldn't modify your weapon either.

My home defense round is #2 shot out of a 20 gauge youth model 870. It'll let all the life out of someone's chest without the risk of a pesky pass-thru.

Huh? I know someone that used a HEAVILY modified handgun in a self defense shooting in NOLA several years back with handloaded ammo both functioned properly and it was never questioned by LE or the attorney for the person he shot.

12 gauge 000 buck shot. I’ll give a warning by chambering a round. If that son of a bitch doesn’t leave then I’ll shoot through that walls and doors.

Mostly Federal HST. I'm buying their research and the results are difficult to argue with.

Hornady is excellent, as is the Winchester Bonded. There are lots of smaller makers putting together some impressive offerings, too, but I tend not to stray from Federal and Winchester - why fix what isn't broken?

I have some of this for my AR-15. Good stuff as well - after Federal and Winchester, Hornady and Speer are my next choices.

My carry guns get a rotation of ammo after having the same rounds in it for about a year or so.

Federal HST 147gr +P
Winchester Ranger T 124gr +P
Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P

And my home defense carbine:

Speer Gold Dot 63gr
Hornady Vmax 55gr
