I'm planning on trying to make a trip up there next year. Really going to be interesting. I like the white river from what I have seen so far.

Been hunting the White since I was shitting britches, Its a great spot but has been hit or miss the past few years.

I leave out of Clarendon where the White meets the Cache, so you double your land opportunities.

Whole family lives in Brinkley and Clarendon (about 15mi from Stuttgart). My uncle owns the liquor store in Clarendon, he is the mayor and he also turns custom duck calls.

I have a 600 acre rice and bean farm in Clarendon with a few pits and my uncle and pow pow have over 500 holes GPS'ed in the timber.

We be killin it around there

ETA: If the hunting would ever straighten up, I would like to swap hunts for fishing trips with some of you salt lifers.

Been trying to make a trip to white river for years. Either school or money or something always messes it up but all that is about to be over. Slim chance I will make it there this year but next year its going to be at the top of the list.

Can you make it work with a small outboard or is a surface drive a must?

*Speaking from where I hunt

Outboard is fine on the White. We run Yamaha 25s with no problem.

The key is having tiller steer. You need to be able to work the motor up and down by hand to break it over logs.

In the spring, summer and early fall. the White River timber is dry with huge ATV trails. It gets deer hunted pretty regularly along with squirrel, etc.

It only begins to flood at 28 feet minimum. If it gets 28-30, you usually cannot get a boat in, so you are forced to beach and walk in (2 years ago we had to do this). Over 30 ft allows it to break all the way over and you can get the boat over the bank edge.

Picture of the flooded "road" in the timber. This was a dead end that we set up on.

Damn thats awesome, we will be doing some hunting in the north end of the basin this year that is similar to that. Just a whole lot more work and less birds.

You ever hunt in Felsenthal?

Never hunted Felsenthal, but my old boss does and they whoop arse out there.

The only other regular spot I hunt other than my land and the White is Lake Dagmar right out of Brinkley.

BOURG - Put that mojo up in the treetop arkansas style. Shot bag on the end of a rope, toss over branch and shot bag end falls, hoist mojo up, stack green.

I would not attempt to run the race or keep up with your buddy if you have not been hunting there for a while. You will end up wrecking or causing a wreck. He will probably lose you if he knows where he is going so I would bring a GPS and have his tracks to where he plans for yall to hunt. Like one poster said those guys run through there pretty wrecklessly.

Probably for the best. You can collect and arse whooping quick if you don't mind your business and know what the Hell you're doing.

I've made some of the best hunts of my life in those trees, and I've seen quite a few shite shows out there too. All in all, I'm glad I have other places to go, but everyone should hunt the scatters once just to experience it.
