The Craftsman stuff you have was probably mostly manufactured by TTI (Ryobi).
I’ve been converting everything to Dewalt 20v, happy with it, huge selection.

If you are happy with the set you have why not get the batteries rebuilt or do it yourself? The Battery Store has the replacement cells and usually you can go up in the ampere hours to give you a longer life (per charge). Cost should be around $30 per battery to rebuild DIY and about $50 to buy replacement batteries.

I was given a bunch of ryobi tools as wedding gifts and have kept them. Don’t have any issues with them and my impact drill out worked my buddy’s dewalt. That being said, when they crap out I will switch to Makita.

Porter Cable lithium drill, circular and recip saws set because it was on sale and I don't make a living with them. At least 5 years now and haven't quit on me yet

Currently running Makita and happy with them. If I was to buy again today though it would be Milwaukee brushless.

DeWalt.
Their 20V XR Brushless line are beasts.

Bought a Porter Cable drill//driver combo about a year and a half ago. They’re lithium batteries and brushless. Batteries last forever and charge quickly. Mostly use them for around the house and crafts that my wife makes. They were on sale for $130 at Lowe’s and when I get any new tools I’ll get more that share batteries.

Ridgid combo, and they come with a lifetime warranty including the batteries.
ONLY if you make sure that you fill out the registration paperwork etc etc. i was given a brand new ridgid drill/driver with li-ion battery. battery quit after a year or so, take it back with the new box etc, tool still looked brand new and no dice... didn't do the registration part. i still have that drill and battery and charger and it may as well be a trot line weight bc i refuse to spend that much on a battery that was supposed to be covered

same situation... ill be honest, i use and abuse mine and they are still going strong. after getting the new lithium batteries i have no complaints. and as another poster said, its pretty nice one battery fits all, both old and new. i actually lost a drill in the river this past weekend (the oldest blue one, don't ask) and just ordered another ryobi to replace it. and it actually came with a free tool with purchase so snagged a 1/4" impact driver as well. I've beat on my old blue ryobi sawzall and it won't quit

I have ryobi's from when I first started buying tools, then a couple years ago I upgraded to Milwaukees. The Milwaukees crapped out on me. They have lights above the trigger, these won't go off, so if I don't pull the battery out overnight, they'll drain out. Also, the brake on the drill doesn't work anymore, so I don't get that sudden stop when I release the trigger. My Ryobi's still run strong. Not insinuating that Ryobi is better than my Milwaukees, but I'm bummed because brand new, Mil blows Ryobi out of the water.

I JUST bought the Milwaukee M12 Fuels. I was going back and forth between them and the Makita XLV subcompact 18 volt but opted for the Milwaukees because they have more tools that fit the M12 platform than Makita has on the 18 volt subcompact.
