I see Honda still offers a Manual transmission. Does everyone prefer an automatic? Is Power Steering a must?

Used Honda rancher or recon and put 6-7k in your bank. I bought a 08 500 foreman manual shift low hours all it needed was a new seat - $3200 wait a month or so there will be lots for sale

I prefer auto but I'm lazy
plus it's easier to ride in flip flops

I have always been a Yamaha guy but I really want that 2-seater, or as they call it 2up Polaris sportsman. Comes with the 570 or 800cc engine. I have a 1999 Yamaha 350 big bear that still runs like a top. We used to pleasure ride every weekend for years on it too. No telling how many miles and hours are on it.

We've had a Polaris 500EB for 20 years. Still runs great. Couple of other guys at the camp have Honda Ranchers which are great. Nothing beats the Polaris for hauling deer back to the camp and moving tools/materials around. Hondas are lighter and more fun to ride and last forever as well.

One of the guys just bought a new Honda for around $4500 so you could get 2 with your budget.

My brother just bought a 2016 Kodiak 700 a couple months ago. All the power you want, and rides well.

2008 grizzly 450

has IRS and a front locking differential...

unstoppable and thoroughly dependable

only thing it could use is power steering for turning when crossing skidder ruts, but still is manageable...

stock, it tows agricultural discs better and navigates harsh abusive terrain better than my buddies 420 rancher...

yamaha makes a stout reliable atv imo

That's actually what I have now. A 98 300 honda.

I do miss my polaris when riding and getting firewood.

That 800 could tow a 30ft 14inch diameter tree at a higher speed than this 300 runs unloaded

You have to realize they are built for different purposes.

Decide what you actually want and go from there. I wouldn't base it slowly off of a brand.

No. Didn't see the need for it. I mean, is it really that hard to steer a 4 wheeler?
