If you were to build on some land you owned, what are some critical features you would want designed into your camp?

Want to be able to have family, friends, customers out for duck, deer and dove hunts and cook, sit out by the fire, drank some adult beverages etc. It will be a hard core hunting camp in deer/duck camp during the season and will need to feed and sleep 14-20 people max.

What would you do to ensure it was comfortable, inviting, functional and organized and not break the bank?

Good food. Who’s doing the cooking? Good indoor and outdoor cooking areas.
Place to watch a ball game.
Comfortable stands/blinds
Transportation-atv’s, utv’s, etc

You need a lot of area that is covered for 4 wheelers, equipment, really anything you don’t want sitting the weather. I know several guys that have C-cans that they store stuff in

I’d have a metal building for the toys. In the back I’d want a cleaning station with a drain, water, sink, etc.

Mud room for coming in and out of camp, storing boots, waders, etc...

Stained concrete floors in the common area is a good option to be able to clean easily.

A nice porch to sit outside out of the weather, drink beer, hangout, eat, watch the sun go down, etc...

Places for mice to get in so you can set traps and put out sticky strips.

Ice maker makes life a lot easier.

Mud room is nice to keep the rest of the place clean.

Man I lived in a flop house off by gardere and we had to wage all out war on the mice. Was fun. We started setting traps under the stove and one night about every two beers we caught a mouse. Caught 20 under the stove

It was a great pastime at my old lease. We watched this one mouse climb the microwave power cord to a pack of Mahatma. It would steal one grain at a time then climb back down behind the cabinet and eat it. Kinda like Mr. Jingles. His end as a little worse though. He got stuck on the sticky and called his extended family over. You could not have fit another living think on that strip.
