Me and CG will be loading up and heading down to Big Lake for the weekend. Naturally there is a cold front moving through with spotty showers and 10-15mph winds .

What's everyone else's plans for the weekend? Did anyone get out on the water last week?

I've put up three quart zip locks of sacs and catfish in two weeks running yo-yo's. We need a couple of days on sunlight to warm the water up. A few sacs had eggs but not bloody. That's all I got.

I went and ran the boat yesterday west of Krotz Springs. Tried jigging for sacalait a bit but as usual I didn't catch any. I think I've only caught 2 of them on purpose.

Saturday at sheldon lake here in Houston

Bounced my crank off a stump and she crushed it. Need to get a net and a scale. She was 25.75" long. Any guesses on weight?

We fished PAC Friday. Conditions were meh at best but i needed to run the boat, see water, and drink white cans. Caught 7 reds(4 keepers) and a couple black drum.

I’m off for a 4 day weekend coming up but, of fricking course, it looks like 15-20mph N winds again.

I think I’ll just work on getting boat ready for spring. Anyone recommend a good soap/wax to make that baby shine?

Yea i know for sure she was my personal best
8 hours on the water 2 fish. I did tie up to a cypress tree and watch LSU game and drink beer for 2 hours though. I always said I dont get why people panic to lip their fish. Took my 5 or 6 tries to lip her. I freaked out like most would

I didn't get a chance to get out there yesterday (I'm only off on Sundays) but I'll be on the water somewhere this coming Sunday, for sure. I'll probably cut my grass tonight in the dark just so I don't have to frick with that this weekend. Maybe if I'm lucky, this coming Sunday will be as nice as yesterday was.

3M Marine Cleaner and Wax works good. If you need a buffer, get one from Harbor Freight $40 bucks or so. You can use the 3M on the entire boat, outside as well as the non-skid.

I use OrPine to clean my boat. A little pricey, but helps to keep the wax on, and that makes cleaning easy.

Don't forget the wool bonnetts at hf.
Met my mechanic at the ramp and hopefully figured out my electrical problems (butt splice and a zip tie )Bounced some swimming mullets off the bottom while we were playing with motor with zero results.
Only dropping 2 bennies for a fix;priceless.

Ya, that girl's gotta be around 11 pounds. That's a damn fine catch. It'll be on the wall if I ever get one like that

Had a nice day in a kayak around Delacroix. Ended around 2 with 10 specks and a limit of reds. Specks were on for first 20-30 minutes but couldn’t find any after that. All fish caught on shrimp under cork.
Side note: made a “bait tube” and it worked very well. Shrimp were alive until around noonish using it.

That's an awesome fish, congrats ! I'd say definitely double digits easily. We went yesterday to Pickwick, water was muddy and lots of current. Cold and misty conditions. We caught 12 total, best 5 were about 20-21 lbs with a 6lb kicker on spinnerbaits and jigs.

Me, No8 and ClassicGold hit up Big Lake today and had a quality over quantity kind of day. Heard of a few reds getting caught in Moss Lake and Prien, but it didn’t seem like many trout were caught anywhere.

Kill a few cans and listened to the LSU basketball game so it wasn’t a bad day.
