Waterproof Hiking Boots

Does anyone have any recs on waterproof hiking boots under $200?
I bought a $100 pair of waterproof hiking boots and they were far from waterproof. I understand the waterproof feature goes away with time, but the boots I bought were soaking wet after using the first time by just walking through dew covered grass. Also, it seems like almost every boot I look at has a negative review dealing with the same dew issue.

I've got some Adidas Terrex boots with Gore-Tex that are still as waterproof as a dolphin's arse after 2.5 years. I think mine were around the $140 range

Get anything with GoreTex. Even after 15+ years use, even when the membrane begins to fail, it still works to drive water from inside the boot to outside of the boot because water can only pass 1 way thru it if you're wearing it.
Most situations where water is a problem in hiking you're gonna run into water going over your boot's top anyway. Goretex will drive moisture out.
Lowa are good, Danner, Salomon, Vasque etc. For 200 or less your budget is about as good as it can be :)

+1 for m2pro. gortex is the way to go for hiking boots that need to be waterproof. I'll also add la sportiva to his list, with the caveat that they have a weird last so you need to try some on to make sure they fit your foot.

Really like my Danner Vital Trails that I've switched to from the traditional rubber hunting boots. Lightweight and comfortable

own these and they are excellent.
Salomon are legit. I wear them for work every day. One day I was walking through a 1 year-old pine plantation with a decent amount of grass and my feet got soaked. Contacted them, went through the warranty process and received a new pair, free of charge.
