Have a chance to get my hands on this specific scope with rings and mounted all for $550

Should I jump on it?

I had my eyes on the leupold vx-3i in the 50mm objective, so the only reason I am hesitating is I had my heart set on a 50mm objective scope, but this deal seems too good to pass up

50mm not needed unless you plan to hunt past legal shooting hours.

I have just only had the Burris Fullfield II my entire hunting life (since I was 12, 18 years ago....). It has been a great scope, but I finally looked through a scope with a 50mm and man, that was nice

But I am not in anyway a gun or glass expert, so maybe this razor would still be better with the 42mm objective

for a deer rifle, the 42mm is great for dawn & dusk shooting times. Just put a Vortex Crossfire 50mm on a coyote/pig/armadillo rifle b/c of the night time shooting; impressed with Vortex quality for $200.
You're talking a $1100 MSRP scope for 1/2 that?!?!

Correct. But I am going to keep this scope for another 10-15 years likely. So I dont want to get it simply because its a great deal, and then be pissed I didnt get the leupold 50mm

Its a good scope. The glass in the razor is going to be better than the leupold glass.

The only drawback is no FFP. There is a slight difference in the way they build up this one to their other Razors. I am guessing to keep the weight down just like having a 42mm bell, which isn't a huge drawback.

I have one, it will not disappoint. But I don't shoot bast 300 right now either. At $550 run with it.

Another reason for 50mm is field of vision. It should be wider in a 50mm than a 42mm. So its faster to bring things to target usually, really helps if you are for example hunting woods and not open fields.

I think you will be happier with the better glass at a great deal than missing the 50mm though.

Glass on the Vortex is better than leupold. I would sacrifice 8mm of obective lens for that.

Buy it quickly. I have that scope with a G4 reticle and love it. Razor is a class above Viper.

Larger objective diameter will NOT increase field of view. This is a common misunderstanding about rifle scopes. It does, however, help bring in more light over the same scope with smaller objective.

To the OP: get the Razor HD for $550. It will outperform the VXIII you were considering in all things, and that VXIII is a very good rifle.
