I'm adopting a 1 year old chocolate lab and would like to know who you dog owners on the OB recommend for a veterinarian in the BR area. TIA...

I use Associated Veterinary Services on greenwell springs road. About as cheap as they come, great people and right next to grecco's (best place to get dog food). When I got my pooch I first went to Staring Plaza Veterinary Center and it was expensive and I didn't like the vet there. I paid $120 for her first round of boosters, $200 for her second and then went to Associated Veterinary Services where it was only $58 for her third round. Highland Road Animal Hospital is also really good, but they are expensive too.

A good friend of mine trains retrievers full time and has always mentioned a vet in Clinton who is the best around in dealing with labs especially. Takes all of his there for various reasons. Not sure of the name, but I can find out for you.

Yeah, I really dont want to break the bank if I don't have to but at the same time I want someone reputable. One place I called wanted $155 for a general check up another $33. I'm opted to go for the $33 one but as mentioned I do not want to sacrifice quality of care for my dog either.
Thanks for your insight.

Griffith if you're not far from Prairieville. Great guy.

What part of town are you in? My vet is awesome and he owns two labs.

White Oak Animal Hospital.
The price isn't high and like I said, I know both Vets very well. (i.e. One is my wife and the other was the maid of honor in our wedding.)

Tough to make a rec when a poster's wife is a vet, but I go to Perkins Road Animal Hospital. I really like that place and the vet owns two labs. Good guy too.

AVS on Greenwell Springs Road at Lanier Drive. You're really not very far away.

Like he said, this place has unbeatable prices and the people are great. I have taken all my dogs and every litter of puppies I have there.

Kleinpeter's on Barringer Foreman near Airline, between Airline and Highland. Excellent doctors there.

Clinton Animal Hospital is who I was talking about. The vet specializes in labradors. My buddy says he's the best around and he has 12 dogs in training and learned from one of the best in the region who also brings his dogs there.

I use Helouin Veterinary Hospital on Airline Hwy next to Ed Price Building Materials. They have been there forever and seem to have reasonable prices. Dr. Phil is a very good vet and a big LSU guy. He is one of the volunteer vets that takes care of Mike the Tiger.
