Seriously doubt he killed it in that field. Just looks like he found a good place to take some pics.

I heard from a few people that they shot it poaching on private land. They post videos hunting over corn. So they are either poaching on private land, or feeding on state or federal land. Either way it’s not legal. Typical “look at me” generation that will go anywhere/do anything and can’t keep a good thing quiet bc they need the social media spotlight. Beautiful buck for sure, but I fish with guides down there often, and everyone I know down there has nothing good to say about them two guys.

The “heresay” is from a good friend of the land owners, who definitely don’t give out permission. Of course I wish I could kill a deer like that, but not violating on someone’s land.

Translation: they had trail cam pics of the deer and are now butthurt it got shot across the property line because it was "their" deer.

that's not how it works down there. Theres basically only 2 private land holders, the pilots further down and across the river, and then various tracts of public. So they were either feeding on private or his other accusation is correct. the pilots go wherever they want, but I don't think those two will get the pass

That’s assuming it was shot over bait at all. I don’t know the specifics of the the area but I can’t count how many “poached” deer rumors I’ve heard stem from a landowner getting attached to a buck, assuming it doesn’t leave a certain area, then crying fowl when it gets shot somewhere else.

My thoughts exactly when I saw the buck, where was it killed cus it’s either fed, state or poached on the only two landowners with almost more money than fed/state funds combined!!!
An based upon the jump comment we can assume it came from down river. Jet skis not allowed on delta An he had to check in to the state!!! But I’m sure he took all that into consideration before posting pics!!!

Yeah, couldn't tell on my phone that it was St. Aug. Just saw it on my computer, so I retract my statement about a nice plot where it was killed. Just a nice lawn where they took a pic.

From what I’m hearing story looks fishy. There aren’t many land owners south of Venice and I don’t think he has permission to hunt from the 2 I know which own majority of the land south of Venice. Some of the public land closed on oct 31st and it looks like he killed it after that. There are a lot of rumors floating around on where he killed it and mentions of poaching. Hopefully that didn’t happen but who knows.

Super buck for down there. Don’t think there are many like that down there. Hogs have overrun most of the areas and there seem to be less deer every year.

They may very well have poached it, I have no idea. I just know that these accusations pop up any time an especially large deer for an area is killed like clockwork. Usually it’s because people don’t want to accept someone else put in more work than they did.

I mean there are obviously stupid people in the world. But, I find it hard to believe they would post multiple pictures on multiple forms of social media had they poached it.

BayouBill225 The land was leased properly and they both have permission slips in their pocket to hunt a bordering piece of private property. Guys like you making accusations like that give sportsman a bad name.

Venice is different in that a lot of these places are islands or secluded land and the islands don’t really connect to other properties. Or the deer would have to travel 5-10+ miles and swim the river or huge passes to get different places. For example, if I got a picture of a deer down river and someone said they killed it 10-20 miles up the river or north of the pic. We know the buck is not going to swim up the Mississippi River to get to where they killed it and that the story is BS.

Not saying this is what happened. Just pointing out how it is different down there.

Well initially their story they told the guides at the marina was they shot it on federal land, now apparently it’s on leased private land? They should get it straight before wildlife comes knocking on their door....
