It’s a hard pill to swallow for some people, the bike will run quieter in H and it’s easy to just push the shifter all the way up, as long as you ignore that pesky clunk that’s the sound of your warranty dying.

but its so much quieter and more pleasant to drive in high gear. F me for wanting to enjoy my ride though

I'm to old for all that
When my ball joint broke or say when it gave up, I crossed a pencil thick pine that I've crossed a hundred times. We were close to camp but an hour (with a solid SXS) from the truck/trailer. No correct parts on a Saturday evening. We put a bottom in the top, wasn't seated lol and tied the control arms together. Got it off the ground with my winch, 4x4 and 2x6 (from a nearby deer stand) hooked to another SXS. Dicey but we got it out very slowly. "Buy a SXS make some memories"

If you’re going faster than about 10-15 mph, then you probably aren’t going to have any issues. If you’re going slower than that and want it to be dead quiet, and Im really not trying to be a dickhead when I say this, get a golf cart.

Polaris 1000 Crew Premium and no issues. Bone stock.

This has served me well for the last 10 years. Not sexy or fast and no accessories, but its an absolute work horse. I do have a top and a windshield though.

quote:At what speed would you driving fast? I just got my first SxS (Mule FTX 1000) and primarily use it for getting around grand isle and cruising beach with the kids. I’ve been rolling in just high so far with speeds 15-20 mostly.
low gear is the primary drive gear for a CVT transmission when there is any load on the machine or you’re not planning on driving fast - aka any time you need low speed belt engagemen

I have a 25 Polaris Crew Northstar. It’s been a very solid bike.

Speed limit on the beach is 10 baw.
I bought a CFMoto U10 XL Pro last April for the same reason. Interested to see if I should be in low as well.

This is more than likely fine, but it’s not just a speed thing. Next time you ride go feather the throttle at really low speed in H. You will feel the belt catch and the bike will lurch. It’s the repeated shock to the flywheel/clutch that wears out the clutch and seal, strains the axles and diffs, etc. Speed this occurs at is going to change with the ground you’re on, how much weight you have on the bike, etc, but once you feel it you’ll know. Most manuals are going to tell you to be in low if you have more than one person riding or any weight on it, but that’s CYA on their part as long as you have some sense.

I work in the industry. Let’s say behind the scenes and CF Moto is about to lose all the ground they made up on Polaris. Dealers are being told don’t expect to be able to place a cf moto order at their August dealer meetings which is crazy. CF moto running into tariff issues and inventory shortages out of Mexico. A few dealers are stocking up like Got Gear in Jackson but most local cf moto dealers in Louisiana will be thin on cf moto this fall and winter
