Anyone do any "Urban Fishing" around BR? I used to go to the pond at Sherwood a bit last year. It's pretty crappy, but it has fish in it. May try the burbank soccer fields pond when it warms up. My work schedule is pretty flexible, so I like to cast a few before work from time to time.

Below is a guy that caught this bass at Sherwood one day when I was there last May. Caught it on a 1/4 oz rattletrap I think. We weighed it and it was somewhere around 6.5#.

the sherwood pond is north of florida by that big civic building. dont think there are any apartments. but they have a pretty rough neighborhood right next to it.

What aa a-hole. I can understand if you were 10 years old, and it was your biggest bass. But, that guy looks 30.

Hopefully he ate it.

Me too. Loved fishing there in February. Pitch by any twig than fell in and hold on.

Exactly.

Btw... I fished the LSU lakes when I was in school quite often. It's not like a trip to Toledo, but you can catch fish.

hit up the police camp/ boyscouts camp on north flannery. there are 4 ponds there that are great

also the pond behind the BCBS building off of bluebonnet is pretty good.

There are some ponds build as cooling lakes for factories off of south Airline that are pretty good too.

If you are willing to risk it some of the cemetaries have pretty nice fish too.

The pond on sherwood you are talking about is the one just north of the old boxite hills and across the street from the BREC park? just north of the railroad tracks?

All over, but I did best on the small one on the same side as the old cow palace. Not the one right behind Miller hall, but adjacent to it. It has a big house on it, and only 2 sides are public. (road access)

They are shallow, but there are fish in there. Even the big ones seem shallow, but you just have to walk them looking for water where you can't see mud right under the surface.

ETA: Drainage pipes are the shite. They come from underneath the roads, and I assume the water pressure creates a little hole underneath them. Not to mention, the fish probably sit there waiting for frogs, lizards, and mice to be washed out of them...

I fished sorority row and the waling trail that comes off of it. I also caught fish in the current coming through from the city park lake after a rain.

I've fished all over. The best fish I caught was standing by the boat launch on Dalrymple casting toward I10. Caught her up against the lillies on the bank.

Just walk around and find some good structure. The further you get away from the main trails the better you'll do. Also the small pond across West Lakeshore at the corner of Parker holds fish too.

Herein lies your problem. I probably caught about 30 bass over 5 pounds at the ball park pond in Walker, over about a two year period. (Im sure I caught some fish more than once) Word got out and I havent caught a fish out of that pond in over a year. So when you find a good pond you would be wise to keep it on the DL.

If you see any of the following near the waters edge, there is a good chance your fishing will not be great.
