Update 7/10/19: Tried all suggestions, lost cause. Everything worked until it was used again. As soon as you go to use it, the musky smell returns. It never returns strong, but enough to tell you it's there. So, in the trash it went. RTIC soft sided ice chests are not made for smells. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Update 6/15/19: Fabuloso smell wore off. Back to stinking. Going to try baking soda and water mix.

Update 6/3/19: I tried the Fabuloso first. Did a whole small bottle with a little bit of water and zipped it up. Sat for roughly two days. I just emptied and rinsed out. As expected, it smells like Fabuloso. I’m going to let it air out and update everyone on test # 1.

Original Post 6/1/19:
I have a Rtic soft pack 30. Was at a place that didn’t have a trash can, so I threw my empties back into the ice chest. Forgot about it for a week or so and when I pulled it out again it was pretty bad. I’ve tried cleaning it with dawn, vinegar, and bleach. I’ve tried leaving it out in the sun. I’ve tried even just using it. No use! The smell just won’t come out. I can’t bring myself to throw it out, but I’m close.

I have found some “cooler reviver”, but I can’t find enough info on it to see if it’s worth it. Other than that, I’m kind of stuck on ideas.

Any advice?

I have had good luck with the purple fabuloso cleaner. Mix it with water pretty strong and let it sit a couple days

Thanks, TJ. I tried that and it definitely did not work. I’ve tried soaking it for a day or two and also try just wiping it down. It’s almost like the smell goes away until the second you close it back up again, then it pops back up.

The glue is gonna deteriorate and the zipper will break pretty soon, so don’t worry about being gentle with the cleaner. Those bags all break relatively quick.

Coffee grounds. Sprinkle them in there close the lid over night and should be good tomorrow. I do it in my fridge at the camp as well as the walk in cooler and it works.

Didn’t rinse my yeti hopper after carrying fish to a client that was bagged. Smelled like a hoar house next week, baking soda mixed with a little water and prop mouth open. It worked on mine.

Yep, don't neglect trying this. The material in those soft sided coolers seem to absorb odors, so I doubt it's going to ever smell the same again. But baking soda this has always cut down on the really offensive odors in my coolers.

Thanks everyone. I plan to try everything. I’ll report back. First try is the Fabuloso.

Hell, I forgot about this one. I do it in my aging fridge and regular ice chests. Squeeze a tube of toothpaste in and seal it up.

Rock salt and Everclear.

Load up the bag with salt and add the alcohol.

Next day rinse out and zero smell will be left.
