two softshells snagged this evening one about 10 pounds the other probably 8

They stink, but my 4 year old loves to wrestle em in!

Catch and release, replicas on order.

me and geaux are trying to get a turtle trip together on my property either June 15 or 22 weekends if you're interested. I have a place to stay and even if we don't catch there will be plenty of beer consumed by me for sure.
Now you know Spicy has been wanting to tag along. She's prolly too sissy to sleep at the camp but she leave and go stay in my outdoor kitchen. My wife can entertain her.

Went back today. Had 5 nets set in some places that I really had confidence in. Well one of them was were we'd caught that one yesterday. Had a few red-neckers but no snapping turtles.

I've never eaten turtle "soup". I'm actually not even sure how it's made. We cook it in a sauce piquante'.

I could be wrong but have no trouble understanding how someone may NOT like turtle in a soup. I can't imagine "wasting" it in one but I like duck gumbo and some people feel like ducks in a gumbo is wasting, too.

What I've had is really good. I'm sure that just like with anything, the recipes can vary widely. The best I've had was at Brennan's.

I guess it's like crab meat- hard to phuck it up.

Oh and I meant to respond to your earlier post about your dad turning those soft shell a loose. Tell that dam redneck to hold on to them.

Any chance you coming down for the 15th?

Said he didn't want to mess with them. I told him to keep'em alive and I'll do it.

He'll damn sure show up to eat'em though when I have some.

Not too big, like 8-10 or so pounds. But I am a turtle virgin so may be way off.

I can see 5 right now.
