I dont know why, but I hate Spyderco knives.

There's something classy about a Buck or Case. I can get behind that.

I have an OKC RAT 1 I've carried forever and has never let me down. Takes a beating but easy to sharpen and goes right to work.

I tend to switch it up as far as what I carry. But the knife I carry the most is a Great Eastern Cutlery 72 Cody Scout in micarta. That knife is absolute perfection. Carbon steel blade and a few hits on the Worksharp and it is shaving again.

For old world 1800s peasant style design:

Opinel

For more modern but has gadgety usefulness:

And agreeing with Bama and Beer for ultra-modern tacticool style:

Honorable mention:

For really way back, as in Roman Empire design, the Svord Peasant knife.

Nothing at all wrong with an Opinel. Very underrated knife and everyone should own at least 1.

Carry a cheap one.

Somehow I manage to loose good ones. This $20 folding single blade China special has lasted me years.

Something about a yellow handled or bone case trapper makes me think of my childhood. I think it has something to do with the ace hardware always having the little display up. I need to get one.

Is that one of those things that is junk now? Should I try to find an old one or are they still ok?

I have a 3 blade Old Timer Senior Stockman with carbon steel blades and it was made in the USA. I also have an Old Timer skinner fixed blade USA made and also carbon steel. The Senior Stockman is over 30 years old and I have it in my pocket at all times.

Nothing that Case makes is considered junk, even these days. Case has such a diehard following that it will never become junk status. Though their QC isn't near what it used to be, it is hard to beat a case knife. I ordered one from DLT Trading and it turned out to be a good one. But normally I like to purchase Case knives in person so I can check to see if the blade is centered instead of getting stuck with one that isn't through the mail.

I do prefer the older models and you can find decent ones on the bay if you keep an eye out. Whatever Case knives that you do have, do not get rid of them unless you are trading for another Case or trading up.

Old Timers are just hard to beat. I probably have 15 in total with a few more that I am looking to find. Shrade makes a damn good blade. I carry an old Mighty Mite all the time just because it is so small and disappears in the pocket. The old carbon blade on that thing is a razor.

Had a friend, RIP, who collected Case pocket knives and had a Case rep call him when one was ready to be released. He gave me one and I still have it.

I have a spyderco para 3 and a benchmade mini grip for my nicer knives. I prefer the benchmade, for how it fits in my pocket, but the para is nicer knife.

I keep a Kershaw Ken Onion leek with my work stuff for daily use. I've been through probably 8 of them (my fault not theirs) It's super slim, narrow, and stays sharp enough for what I need it for, (opening coffee bags, and cutting tape on amazon boxes mostly) and doesn't get in the way of going in and out of my pocket. I'm partial to a clip over pocket carry.

Buck 303 for the last 35-40 years

My old man always carried and use Buck knives and every time my brother and I went to visit at Christmas and summer visitations, he would always give us one when we went back home.

My favorites were his 301 Stockman and the with plastic handles from the 1980s and 1990s (422, 424 426 I believe)

Even though I don’t need any more knives, if I ever come across an old bucklite for sale that still has a decent blade, I usually buy it and add it to my collection

I've got a vendor who likes to get me knives at Christmas. I really like the Yellow Case Trapper, he got me last year, but I leave it on the shelf and carry a CRKT that he got me the year before.

I rotate between 20 to 30 different pocket knives but probably have closer to 50 to 70 still.

Got a few custom fixed blades by Texas knife makers.

My bride had him make this one, they aren't cheap but it's an heirloom for sure. I'd email the pic and see if he'd do another.
