There are pics in the link but here's the nut of it:

Step One - Make sure you have two tablespoons of salt, one large lemon, a knife, a cutting board, and a towel or cloth.

Step Two - Using your cutting board and knife, carefully cut your lemon in half, making sure to cut the lemon longways

Step three - Cover both halves of the lemon in salt by pouring one tablespoon of salt onto each half.

Next, use the lemon as you would a sponge and rub it across the grill grate. The lemon's acidity combined with the salt's abrasiveness will work quickly as a natural cleanser to break down the grill's grease and cut through residue.

Finally, fold a towel or cloth in half and wet with warm water. Wipe down the grill grate with the wet half of the towel and then dry it with the other half.

You don't have a wire brush? That seems like a lot of effort. I'd just buy a new damn grill

I’ve found bristles from a wire brush on a hamburger cooked on a friends grill.

Same. I saw that happen one time, and oddly it was recently after years and years grilling. It was also the last time I will be using a wire brush. I am not so interested in having one of those get in my food next time.

Just burn it off and lightly brush with your wire brush once it’s good and hot. I’m 37 and I’ve been grilling since I was a young teenager. Never had an issue with wire bristles.

I clean my grates with my pressure washer and they clean up in about 2 minutes each and all I have to do is move the nozzle tip back and forth.

Once cleaned off, I put them back after cleaning the rest of the grill, heat it all up to remove any moisture and then oil the grills with a paper towel and cooking oil.

They must either be using a crappy wire brush, or are pressing down hard enough to pull the bristles out. I don't know anyone who that's happened to

Actually happened to me once. No idea how one of the wire bristles came out. I cleaned it a little, as I always do, before cooking. i was eating a piece of chicken and felt something weird - wire bristle stuck into my tongue. Scared the crap out of me, because my kid & wife were eating also. Haven't had that happen since.

Need to use a twisted stainless steel grill brush to avoid carbon steel bristles detaching.

After every time you grill get it as hot as possible, use a spray bottle with lemon juice and a wire brush.

Once it gets hot I just ball up some aluminum foil and use tongs to clean the grates.

i bit down on one last year. lucky it was sideways and not straight up and down. I cringe every time i think about if it was up and down , hoe it would have felt against my teeth.

Got a egg. Once finished grilling, I fire that bitch up above 700F. Once all coals burnt, I pass a brush and lube the grill with Pam spray. Good to next time. Oh, the wife is grilling now.
