What’s a good price for an 8x8 bathroom tiled with 12x24 tiles in an offset brick pattern and a tub surround in 3x6 subway tiles?

I got quoted 2500 including material minus tile (concrete board, waterproof coating, skim coat, and grout)

eta, not trying to be snarky. 2500 seems like a good price for all that....Assuming the person is a competent tile installer. They're are many shite tilers out there.

His work appears to be pretty good. But what I’m asking him to do isn’t complicated stuff.

There is more to it then what the eye sees. If you feel that is over priced, do it yourself. Get three bits and see what is what. Me, I would do that myself as I had done before again and again.

Does he have to tearout oldschool metal lath subway tile tubsurround and wainscoat around the entire batbroom.

Bathroom was gutted minus the old school wire mesh/concrete subfloor. He said he could skim coat it level but now says it all needs to come out.

ETA: price does not include the removal or mesh/concrete sub flooring

Rent a demo hammer from Home Depot for $80 and knock that out in a couple of hours. Wear a dust mask and get a big flat shovel to remove it after you bust up a section. Did the sane thing about 5 years ago. Well worth the tool rental.

$2500 is a good price. Maybe too good. So be careful. Bathrooms are a pita and small tile jobs like that require many days of work where you do 2-4 hours of work and then have to let something dry. So the totality of the work is not a ton of hours, but the amount of days is a lot.

Use a certified tile installer. Its cheaper to do it right than to do it over.

Agree 100%. As in my first post, there are a lot of things unseen to do to make the job right.

Some backsplash I installed last week.

A lot of waste using that along with a shite load of cutting and filling in. Took just two days to install without grouting it which was a third day to do. Still have a forth day just to seal it.

OP, this is a small area. 4 days of work. The area you have is easy a weeks work and more.

Just remodeled a house and that sounds like a good price to me. I did a half bath myself in my last house and decided I will never do that again. Just a huge PITA.
