I have an LC9 as my cc and I like it a lot for the price. It’s still small enough and super reliable and has never jammed or misfired after thousands of rounds at the range. 9mm > .380

I have to think that in 99.9% of self defense situations for the average citizen if you shoot an attacker a couple times with any caliber of bullet that’s the end of that.

Do you have statistics that show otherwise using modern ammunition?

Meh. I had a Walther PPK that was a great gun, but I remain unconvinced by .380, blowback designs and pocket "pistols" generally.

If you want a little automatic, look at the little Kahr pistols in 9mm.

If you like Ruger and want something for CC and a "truck" gun, look at the LCR - their 5-shot revolver. You can even get it in .357 (no - I'm not crazy, but you can carry .38 +P very safely in a .357 chambered revolver.)

Yeah my other choice I’m looking heavily at if I go revolver is S&W Bodyguard 38 special revolver.

I’m undecided at the moment. I really like the absolute pocket concealability of the LCP II but I agree somewhat with the 380 concerns and usual mini pistol cons.

I just feel like if I want something bigger than the lcp I might as well just carry my Glock 19X instead of a single stack 9mm.

Well after renting a few and shooting at the range for a day, I might now be getting a smith and Wesson Performance model Shield 2.0 9mm .

I shouldn’t talk to people

I have the 1st gen shield and haven’t handle the 2 but I still carry the shield quite a bit.
I have an apex trigger in the gun and it shoots really well. The gen 2 is suppose to have a much better trigger than the gen 1.

I think you will be happy if you do pick the shield.

The more I thought about it the more I want my truck and carry gun to be something I will actually practice and shoot often and none of the smaller 380s or the lc9 were even moderately enjoyable to shoot much less something I’d actively seek out to do

I agree with that sentiment.
My truck gun is a Glock 19. I carry it some as well but more times that not I have either my SIG p365xl or shield.

ETA: the shield is not bad to shoot at all. I enjoy shooting it.

My 19x is my favorite gun I currently own. It’ll stay as my main home defense gun because of the ammo capacity and because I’ve shot it more than anything else.

But man that performance shield was fun to shoot. The performance model comes with an upgraded trigger, upgraded hiviz fiber sights, and a factory ported barrel/slide.

I really really liked it. But I refuse to drop the money on a snap decision so I slept on it. Most likely buying that one today.

I went with the performance center Smith & Wesson shield 9mm.

Man I love this gun.

I don’t doubt it. I just weighed my options, and, as a guy who loves the range, I’ll no doubts shoot the shield way more than I’ll shoot the lcp and back hip concealing the shield should be no problem. I’m a big tall country fataas

I too am in the market. Looking for not only a reliable CC, but moreso a little pocket gun. I was dead set on the bodyguard, but now seeing LCP II plus entertainment of G42
I'm not a big guy, and certainly don't want to print my carry but LCP II? Bodyguard? G42? what say you

Go to a range that rents guns and shoot each of those. I was dead set on a pocket carry pistol until I shot one. I ended up opting for a single stack 9mm the smith and Wesson 9mm M&Ps shield performance centered edition with the upgraded sights, trigger, and ported barrel over any of the 380s I shot.

I hated shooting and handling the lcp and the bodyguard. And you shouldn’t own a gun you hate to shoot and handle. Especially if you’re looking at an everyday carry. You should be well practiced and second natured with your EDC. Just my two cents.

Finally got to shoot my new shield at the range today.

Not bad at all for my first two magazines out the gun:

This is really just a damn near perfect gun. I’m looking forward to courting it for a while. Getting to know it. Lubing it up and wiping it down for fun. You know how it goes with a new pistol. Thanks for all the input.

I switch up my EDC between the Glock 43x and the Springfield XDS in .45
I prefer to keep my Glock 19 as my truck gun.
The Glock 42 is nice if you prefer the .380 round. However I recommend going with something a little larger. Just my opinion. Try the Glocks before you purchase something. I have never been to a range where someone didn't have one out.
