I dig a 55 Vicem convertible.

Norhavn has some great ones, and they keep coming out with more and better models.

A Krogen Express is totally my dream, but they are slow AF.

That's our plan. We'll shop trawlers, when the time comes.

They got good duck hunting in Georgia? Serious question? North GA and East TN are beautiful, and always wondered how duck hunting was in those parts. I know deer hunting is a big thing in that area.

No. If you feed corn and put out duck boxes, you'd be lucky to get some pet ducks.

Deer hunting is marginal in the mountains. Go to south Georgia it gets better.

You and 500,000 other people are doing the same thing in NGA.

I love Fairhope and it's an awesome little town, but the prices are out of sight and only going higher. My biggest problem with Baldwin County in general is it's growing so fast that I don't want wake up one day and realize I'm right back in the middle of all the traffic and headaches that I was trying to avoid.

This is exactly what's happening to the North Georgia mountains.

There are still good places like this here if you look for land to build on.

Everyone wants to build somewhere secluded which makes it harder and harder to find anywhere secluded. Maybe find a place that’s already built so no more land has to be cleared.

Georgia has everything game and fish wise. My Uncle who chose forestry and wildlife management over pro baseball moved to Georgia and never missed a season of any animals/fish. Dad used to talk about how uncle Junior (real name not nickname, he was 1st cousin to Mickey Gilley and Jerry Lee Lewis and the BR televangelist Jimmy Swaggart) no matter the weather would be outdoors hunting/fishing and no matter the day.

Summary: Uncle chose wildlife/fisheries career over pro baseball and chose Georgia over every other state to pursue it.

Also from the gulf coast. Been working in NE Georgia over the last few years right on the SC border. I want to buy land up there around the lake and have a serious option for retirement. It’s gorgeous up there and they have seasons.

Yep. I dont know how any human can go back to the city after attaching to the mountains.

Its spiritual and peaceful. Its how life was meant to be lived.

Climate is a dysfunction filter. It appears the further you get away from the equator the better quality of life you'll have. Much better people.

I’m thinking just a few miles north and retiring in southern Tennessee. I can’t afford a house on a lake but I can afford a house 15 minutes from 5 or 6 boat ramps. I’m picking my lake then finding a house nearby.

As I said, I lived there for 3 years and go back 2 or 3 times a year. I can definitely give you some recommendations. Do you want to live on a mountain or live a few miles away from mountains to enjoy the view?

The mountains of Georgia are FANTASTIC. The problem with living in much of north Georgia in retirement is having to drive 40 miles one way to see a medical specialist. Most people do not take this into consideration when they start thinking about where they want to retire. It is a BIG consideration. GPs are readily available in most of North Georgia but even "normal" specialists like Urologists can be scarce in rural areas. When you are 65 and accustomed to commuting for work it is not a big deal but when you are 75 and not accustomed to driving more than a few miles or, and it happens, not able to drive at all, you are in a BAD position. Our dream was to buy some land somewhere in rural Georgia, north, south made no difference, and live the dream. Until my Dad moved in with us and we realized even living in an urban area with a host of public transportation options and some of the best health care in the SE medical appointments are a BIG deal for most retirees....

Used to be Mobile white flight moving here but the attraction seems to be nationwide now- explains the phenomenal increase in real estate prices.

Haha yeah that's bullshite. The pro-baseball offseason coincides perfectly with hunting season, and lot's of MLB players are avid hunters.
