Which one should we get and why? (we all know the wife will win)

We have a dog now that is part Australian shepherd, sitting next to me on the couch. Hands down the best dog I have ever had.

Blue Lacy by a mile.
I had one for a long time. She was the most versatile dog ever. Trailed deer, ran rabbits, treed squirrels, penned cows, slept inside, killed varmits, etc.
I'm pretty sure that dog understood the English language. I can't wait to get another one.

My sister in law has a Blue Lacy. Beautiful dog and was built to run. He can be a touch stubborn from time to time just like any breed and a touch hyper but a Damn good dog.

slept inside.......understood the English language
OP: For personal reasons having to do with some Lacys that live in south Texas and having nothing to do with the dog and another personal view I have of all things Australian I'd have to buy a Catahoula Cur.

My Australian Sheppard is the best dog I've ever owned. Smart as hell. Good size for protection without being a beast. Working on him blood trailing and he has picked that up nicely.

How's the Shedding with both?? Wife wants it to be inside a lot also.

Your wife is correct.
Australian shepherds are the best dogs ever. (All dogs are awesome, of course)
By way of apology for doubting your wife, give her extra sex and make her coffee in the morning.

Australians shed pretty bad, I currently have one now that was once an inside dog but the shedding got to be too much to keep up with. I'm a bit partial but both Australians we've had have been great dogs, super smart and loyal.

The males tend to be a little hard headed. They do take somebody who knows dogs to get everything out of them. They'll be bored to death without a job.
Ours had stuff to tree and cows to watch all day every day so she was never bored. We didn't ever worry about the cows getting out, they didn't dare get within 3 feet of the fence or she was running their asses to the barn
Lord forbid somebody come down the road with a cow trailer. Everything on the whole road, horses, cows, goats, chickens got ran into the pen. That was a cool arse dog.
One day my dad had his truck parked kind of halfway under the carport and she jumped over the tailgate into the bed, on the roof of the truck, onto the roof of the carport, and then onto the roof of the house. She was standing up there like a weather vane looking for squirrels

I want a blue lacy but we have 3 big dogs now. It's a battle worth fighting. It will be awhile before you're able to get a blue lacy. That is if ya can't get both
