well, i'd agree with you, but since the whole family is having a party that afternoon we'd have to deal with 40ish of his kids & grandkids too. that would be a fricking armada of pirogues.

Guys. I called Robichaux lumber a couple weeks ago to source some marine olaywood and they have it. It is availble in sheets up to 20' I think he told be but it is special order. They are located in Raceland and only open during the week.

My uncle just gave me my grandfathers original plans for his pirouges. I stoked about getting started on building it. The plans date back to the 40's. There is truly an art to building these boats. It should paddle straight as an arrow with equal strokes from paddling......I will post pics when I'm done.

GD I can't wait to build a few! I'm building a shed this summer for projects like this. With two young boys we're going to have a blast in this back yard with handmade pirogues for years to come!!!

Here is a list for what is needed.

A list of things needed:

2 sheets of A/C fir ext 1/4" plywood
2 1"x4"x16' fir #1 grade
1 1"x6"x8' fir or pine #1 grade
1 2"x4"x8' spruce, pine or what ever you have
1 lb of ring shank nails.
1 qt of wellwood 2 part glue which comes in a 2 qt package
1 piece of fir or pine 3/4" plywood ext that is about 2'x4'

For the glue, I had to order it. I will dig up were I got it from tomorrow. We can get a good power buy thru them and they were fast to deliver.

This for sure.

We gonna need a tent or something if we get several boats under construction at once?

No need, I have an area big enough to build around 8-10.

If we get a bunch going, we will need a shite load of wood clamps.

10 to 12.

Could use golf tees, sheetrock screws and washers. But going that way, that would add a extra day.

OK people, lets try to set the date. May 10 weekend I think is Mothers Day weekend. Don't think that will fly. It looks like the weekend after that could work. Y'all let me know.

May17-18? I have it on the calendar, I would be interested in getting in on a bulk order, I know a guy at a local lumbar yard and will see if he can order the stuff, but not sure I would have the means to get a bulk order up to New Roads, but I am sure we can cross that obstacle once we get there, in the mean time if anyone else can get all the supplies please let me know and I will get money to you ASAP

I really hope I can make it. I'll check my calendar at work tomorrow and my wife calendar when she gets finished bathing.

I am in with little wick. We need to try to get a head count and how much is needed and hopefully someone can arrange to get everything delivered.

Someone has to have some pull in the lumber industry...
