I will be building a pirogue here soon for a family member. So for y'all wanted to come learn. I live just outside of New Roads and for those that would like to come, I'm just trying to figure the best dates for the most people that would like to come.
It really takes two 8-10 hour days. So for the ones that can make one or two days, I will post pictures of progress. Also, going to try to cook for all a the same time. Somewhat a OB get together. Maybe some wild beast or something. FYI, y'all will have to bring your own drinks.
Also, for those that want to build one for themselves, I can make a list of what one will need at the time.
I need to get this done way before it gets hot outside and I am limited to how I feel, so lets keep that in mine.
For me, Wednesday's are out of the question, but open for all weekends.

OK guys that are interested in a set of plans and bow stems. This is what I have so far. With this and that link I posted with full build pictures, I'm sure someone can build one. This is a set for a two man pirogue that is 14' long with 9 1/2" sides and the widest point can be made to 28", but I wouldn't go over 26" for best tracking.
Let me know what y'all think.

Yes. And yes, wood boat building is almost lost here in Louisiana.

Does this include a pile of Bud Lights scattered about the construction area?

That is 99% of boat building art of a coonass way of doing things right.

Lost art is true. I've been following a few other boat builders the last few months at Texas Kayak Fisherman. Most are hobbyist but they're fun to follow unless they take long breaks between updates.
Can't wait for your build thread.

Please post list of building materials, my Dad used to build them back in the late 70's and earlier 80's. Really awesome to do.

one of me earliest memories was watching one of my grand paws and his minions building a couple - circa late 60s.... I had the one my grandpa built but it was swiped from me in 84......been wanting to build a wooden one since....

I will try to get a list up today. Getting a infusion right now and it kind of knocks the crap out of me. Besides having a bad head is not helping.
