Marlin 336 with a 4x scope was my first deer rifle. Inherited it from my Grandaddy who used it to kill the one and only deer he ever shot. Killed many deer with it myself, still grab it a time or two a season.

Yup, it's nice to have a rifle that doesn't stick out over your shoulder when you're walking through the woods

I grew up hunting in southern Missouri and that's the rifle of choice there due to the Ozark mtns and thick woods.

I love mine. When I go to my other house and land in Oklahoma it's all I use.

My dad bought me a used 30-30 from a childhood friend of his. The guy was huge hunter and probably killed a hundred deer with this particular gun. He gave it to me when I was around 14yr old. I have killed quite a few deer with it including the 10-point hanging on my wall right now.

I killed my first deer with a .30-30 marlin. It was the first gun I ever purchased and I would never sell it.

Core-Lokt. They have been killing deer forever, so I'm not trying to get fancy with new fangled shite that might or might not work

I use 170 grain federal blue box. They shoot well and kill deer.

I have a 2-7 Nikon on mine. I wish it was a leupold, but 2-7 is AWESOME, especially for a pop gun. I've only killed one deer with it when it wasn't on 2x. You can literally aim straight at the floor and still have a clear sight, and 7x is plenty for 100 yards.

Ive shot deer with the win silver tips, power points, but ive been shooting the 170 grain core lokts for years. That will be all we ever shoot out of them. I would like to put a leupold 4 power fixed power on it.

I've got a 3-9 on mine with shoot through sights. I take shots inside ~50 with the open sights.

Mine came from Walmart

Yall scoping those 30-30s? I like the gun but I need a scope for those last 20 minutes of low light dusk. Shot large portion of my deet during that time. Scoping one just doesn't seem right.

ETA: I guess I should of read the whole thread before posting...

Mine looks good with a scope. It points like a brittany spaniel and i can see the last few minutes. I want to put a leupold on it hunt with it again, my son can shoot my tikka 7mag.

I don't like covering up a good set of open sights. My CZ 452 has them too. It's more fun shooting that way sometimes

I'm not against hunting with them with open sights. I'm against using see through scope mounts.

frick see throughs.

2-7 scope people. Try it and you'll never go back. You can literally touch your barrel against the wall and have a clear sight picture. I don't think you'll be sticking the barrel down a deers throat and still be worried about the crosshairs.

2-7 scope>>>>>anything else for .30-30

It's better than a peep sight, better than see throughs, better than open sights, etc

I have found the ultimate .30-30 setup. Upgrade can attest to me chopping down deer with that setup from very close range out to 130 yards.
