I am such a minimalist I refuse to use an anchor trolley. I just don't want ropes of any kind attached my boat. I don't even use a crate.

Where do you keep on your shite? Just loose all over the flo? There's being a minimalist and there's causing yourself allot of extra work! Just my humble opinion. But different strokes I reckon.

I'm sure all you guys' fancy schmancy peddle kayaks with rudders that make you go straight are great and all... but I'm enjoying my little Field & Stream arm-powered yak so far. I should have gotten a kayak years ago.

Had a decent couple of mornings crappie fishing this weekend.

Saturday's catch

Smallest crappie I've ever seen. Nearly swallowed a jig that was almost as big as him.

Just before the 10% chance of rain arrived sunday and stayed all morning.

A few more for the freezer.

Life vest in either front or back well. Fish bag in front of me between my feets. Very small tackle bag in front of crotch. There's nothing else needed. If I bring an anchor, it can be stowed anywhere really.

Doesn't happen.

How deep were they? By structure?

Fishing tree tops in about 12' of water. Fish were suspended about 6' deep.

I am as well. I bought my Outback used and it came with a stake out pole and anchor trolley. I hardly use either. I have yet to add any gear tracks or depth finder. I just recently started carrying a 4th rod n reel.

I mostly either perch fishing or going to a marsh. Neither of those require a bunch of rods. 3 is a lot for me.

A minimalist I am not. I overpack like a woman. I think it comes from the frustration of fishing with my brother-in-law. Something was always missing or forgotten: forgot to charge trolling motor battery, forgot the bait net, forgot the landing net, forgot leader material, forgot the egg sinkers, Kahle hooks, popping corks.

That manifested into my OCD of preparing for a fishing or hunting trip by having 2 of nearly everything.

Word of advice, if you intend to inshore fish from your Jackson Big Tuna, have a rudder installed. I'm learning this the hard way.

Guy at P&P said some prick around laffy makes these. Had to give it a try. Looks like something a redfish would knock the piss out of.

Well, I'm trying to do the minimalist thing too. I got the Garmin so I can explore and not get lost. I've been telling myself that two poles is enough, and I've got the two lightest ice chests I could find. After adding four cleats, I've wondered if I need the anchor trolley. My buddy said try going without it for a while. Then when I'm frustrated with having to mess with the anchor line constantly, l'll install it. So, I don't know. I've got a grappling anchor and figured that with all four of those cleats that should be good. What do ya think? Install it/don't install it?

I have one on this manta ray that i bought off of craigslist a few years ago. Never used it once. Then again, while i always carry an anchor, i almost never use it.
