No luck for me today at PAC, couple of small reds and a new, urgent desire to get a pedal kayak.

I don't know how you guys do it without pedals, especially without a rudder.

We don't have to worry about changing tampons on the water, so it's not that big of a deal.

A rudder with paddles? Why? I've never felt one was needed.

Helps reduce corrective strokes, and makes dealing with cross current/wind much easier. Offshore it allows you to set a drift and noy worry.

Definitely worth it, easier to turn, easier to keep straight while drifting, etc. My rudder cable broke on my Cuda and I realized yesterday just how much I use my rudder.

Nice lookin rig, BR. Time to get dat slimy now

You're not screwed.. it'll just make you appreciate pedals that much more when you eventually get them.

When fishing in the wind a rudder is very useful.

As great as they are and necessary on my peddle, I'd remove it from my Slayer if it had one.

When my fil gets back from KY, we're gonna do a maiden voyage into Lake Borgne next weekend. Put in by Campo's. I'm looking forward to gettin scales and blood all over the mat.

Here's where I set the transducer in JB Weld:

From the seat:

I feel like I'll be able to fish and land reds/specs pretty comfortably from this position. I may stand to cast from time to time.

I've gotta tap on more hole for that power cord. But this will work next weekend.

No need for it, and it would just be another thing to get hung on something or get misaligned and cause me to stop traveling straight. I would never use it. I guess I've had nothing but great tracking boats.

Just dont get in one with it.

You dont know what your missing until you do. My longest trip was about 6 miles in a crappy pelican. I was hurting after but your ascend is a cadillac compared to my old kia

I can assure you you'd get way more use out of it than you'd think. It was a game changer on both my Cuda 14 and Slayer 14.5, both of which track fine. Never had an issue with it hanging up either. Yesterday it was apparent how much I depended on it, when I stop paddling to work a bank I can use the rudder to keep me straight and maintain my distance from the bank, without it any little current wanted to make me spin, turn sideways or either drift towards/away from the bank requiring me to pickup the paddle to correct myself. Rudders are worth it.
