If they can put a pedal drive on that thing and come in under $3k, they would definitely have my attention.
Mine too.

Big words from Vibe:

quote:

“This new fishing kayak doesn’t just change the game, it ends it,” says Josh Thomas, Vibe Outdoors’ CEO. “Two years in development, this is not just Vibe’s newest creation, it’s now the bar for which all fishing kayaks will be measured — delivering an unmatched fishing experience by combining an arsenal of features that kayak anglers customarily had to choose one over the other; and at a price point that is incomparable.”

I looked for a video or pics and haven't found it yet.

Shearwater 125. There’s a small glimpse of the cockpit on a video on their Facebook page, but not much else is revealed, yet.

Nucanoe and Wilderness Systems looks to have a new pedal as well. Competition is a good thing.

I still can't get over that bump in price, Hobie just gave the PA the ability to parallel park and bumped the price $850.

Too much for me. I saw another video and the steering is cool. I just can't pay that much for a kayak. I already know a few guys in our club though who will.

Someone just posted a pic of the new hobie mount. The 360 gears are integrated into the mount and they are plastic gears.

So, no retro fit?

Nope.

Pick is on the Hobie Pro Angler Owners FB. Completely new mount for the drive. No retrofits.

Looks like they're keeping the original PAs with the 360 as a special edition.

That blue color is really nice.

The fins kicking up when you go over stumps or rocks is a pretty cool idea but I don't think you'll be able to power through thick grass anymore with that.

Yeah, I can see grass being a problem. FB live video shows that they just hang loose after popping free. You have to pedal to reengage them. Can see heavy grass making that difficult.

I'm a Hobie fan, but this is crazy. There is no way I would pay that much for a kayak.

I’m all-in on my current rig for about $3.5k. I think that’s my limit. Any purchase bigger than that is a skiff. And just like anything else, I want to see that Hobie drive in action. The tech is incredible and I love the idea but they just added a bunch more moving parts and areas to fail. I’m really curious to see how that plastic gear that spins the drive holds up.

Hobie 360 Walkthrough at iCast
Definitely not going to be an early adopter. Fins look like they're delaminating. Plastic mounting well looks flimsy to be but seems replaceable. Mentions that they put it on the Pro Angler due to sideways thrust. Needed a stable hull. I take that to confirm that the outback won't get it. Way too easy to roll it.
