So there's an area at Laccassine that's kayak only?

I think I remember hearing that. I don't know for sure. Never been. Was hoping someone here could confirm that.

Is it as productive as the rest of the place? Cause I have some vacation days in April and my 175 is a little above the horsepower restrictions.

Y’all take off the week of April 15th and let’s go slay em!
I was just looking at the map. Where the hell do you put in and park? Just anywhere along the road and park on the side of the road?

There was an 8lb fish caught in the motorless pool last year, I talked to that guy a couple weeks ago and he said there's good fish there.

So is the north side the motorless pool, and the south side for boats?

Buy a used Outback. You're welcome.
They look nice, but damn pricey. For as little as I can likely get on the water right now, was trying to get all in for under $500, then go from there. Avg price on a used one seems to be 1500 or so... I've seen 2 in random parts of Florida (I'm in Atlanta, but am down in south GA plenty, and have sales accounts in Florida, so easy to pick up and drive back for the right price) for about 1k, but were noted as having nose/hull repairs... not sure how much of a concern that would be, but seemed noteworthy.
Is the thought here just that the pedal drive is vastly superior to having to paddle? Or just the quality of boat for the money (even at the price point) is really good? My thought on getting a decent yak for around $400 is it's only marginally more expensive than renting one for a couple of days, and can likely offload it for the same or close to it if I shop smart and am not in a rush to sell (alternatively, for a super lightweight yak like that one, could always just keep it for touring specific use case since the extras are probably 150-200 worth of stuff alone between decent paddle, roof mounts, and PFD...
But I'll take the wisdom of the crowd here if you really think this is one of those buy once/cry once scenarios. Definitely not an area that I'm super knowledgeable about.

Where Unc drop the pin is where I put in last yr with no issues
Didn’t go opening morning so it should be interesting to say the least
The long line everyone takes about is for the boat launch so hopefully we’ll be ok

Once you go pedal drive, you'll never want to paddle again.
But I've kayak fished for over a decade in paddle craft and caught plenty of fish. Pedaling is a luxury, not a necessity.
Hobies are great boats, but you're paying for the pedal drive, not some otherworldly craftsmanship.
If you can save more and stretch your budget to $600-700, you can find a used, high-end paddle kayak that will likely come with a paddle, pfd, anchor, etc... That's what I recommend. Keep an eye out for Native, Jackson, Old Town, Wilderness Systems, FeelFree... sit-on-tops with a lawn chair style seat. That's going to be your sweet spot and should be fairly easy to find if you look for a couple of months.
