I caught one last Saturday. At least I know my route for the tourney. I have a room reserved if y'all want to go. Just let me know so I can post on the website.

Anyone familiar with the Hurricane brand of kayaks? Someone selling a lightly used Santee Expedition 14' kayak near me for around $400 with car mount kit, $130 Skagit FG paddle, and a Life vest...
Curious if anyone knows much about the brand or has fished in one. It's not specifically an "angler's kayak", but seems like it could be a heck of a deal on a quality yak (retailed over 1k on its own). From what I've read/seen so far, it's built with a 2 piece construction rather than rotomolded, but out of a more rigid/dense plastic - allows it to be *much* lighter than comparable sized roto kayaks.
Worth checking out and tossing a few bucks at aftermarket rod holders (and/or other fishing specific gear) or save money for something more fishing specific?

The two piece kayaks IMO are no where new the quality of rotomold one piece. The two piece can break at the joint. There’s a reason the high end fishing kayaks aren’t 2 piece.

Hurricane brand of kayaks
Very good kayaks, but really not fishing kayaks. I know they market an angler version of the santee, but it is a light touring sit-in, not a fishing kayak. Their only "fishing" kayak I would consider is the sweetwater which has the first-class seat and is a sit-on.
The thermo-formed (two piece) construction isn't an issue. Yes, a lot of cheaper kayaks are made this way and have seam issues, but hurricane kayaks are not cheap boats and have a very good reputation from a build quality standpoint.

Sorry, not familiar with that kayak but after a quick search on google and seeing a few pics, I would

I'll be there. Last year was a Solo Skiff and the year before was a PA that Lessard won the World's Tourney in.
