This motor is badass Hoss. Just checking out the YouTube videos It is a must have.
What other motor would you recommend if I can't wait that long.

I'm trying to buy a boat and all these dealers are pushing Suzuki because they are easy to get. I don't want that me

I would buy a Suzuki before I bought a Mercury.

Wait should be about half that or less, the new Racing series is about 10 months and the XS's are running less than those. Call Jaco's Marine and check with them.

I called mercury last week. Current lead time is 14 months. Lead time on the racing motors is roughly 4 months.

I am getting a lightly used 300 pro xs from a buddy and will run that motor until my new 300 pro xs is ready. I will post pics when I get it.

You going to be selling that lightly used 300 pro xs?

Yes I will be selling it as soon as my new 300 is ready. I repower my tournament boat every year. I am sure it's gonna be awhile before I get the new motor but the lightly used motor I am buying is under warranty through August 2023 so I should have no problem selling it.

I don't understand why they can't manufacture more of these motors. They came out over a year ago and are still on back order.

Like I said it must be one hell of a motor

If they have only been out 1 whole entire 365 days, call me crazy but how great do we know them to be?

Head up, there’s nothing on the market that compares right now. It just happened that this new motor was unveiled at the top of the market and coincided with Yamahas carb problems. Merc is making as many as they can and can’t keep up with demand so I’m guessing they have a winner. Wish they could double their output and stick a dagger in Yamaha for the next ten years.

I hope they are better than the 2 stroke version. I had a 15 model and had numerous problems with the hp fuel system. Mercury tried to blame it on fuel and void my warranty. I won't own another one..

My point was simply that the average person doesn’t own a motor for just one year. Op or whoever that buys a new boat or motor yearly that’s one thing. But there’s a lot of issues with motors, and I’m not talking just outboards, that show themselves years down the road. Such as yamaha’s corrosion issue. I’m not arguing that it’s not the best motor to own right now, I have no idea and it may be. I’m saying for someone buying right now and hoping to keep the boat 5-10 years...we simply can’t say that imo with them only being on the market a short period.

Merc is unveiling their newest offering in June, might be the 450-500 errybody has been waiting on. If merc can do it and come in under the yam 425 weight of 978# they will own the offshore market.

Shame on evinrude for not capitalizing on the backorder. They missed a great chance to reclaim market share
