The lost art of strapping a deer to the hood of your truck

Shame this tradition has faded. You LA rednecks should bring it back. We're counting on you.

I used to put them on the front of my bronco between the winch bumper and the hood. Made for a nice deer holder.

You can thank LDWF for making it illegal
Question about that.... Wouldn't that cause the deer to heat up more than it should and spoil the meat?

I don't know about the legality here in WV, but your 2nd comment is why most people I know don't do it anymore, especially since we've been having a little bit warmer weather around deer season the last few years.

Yes. I've heard of many a big buck rotting from gettin paraded around for a whole day on the hot arse hood of a truck

I never went very far with mine. It was more out of necessity than bragging. Didn't want blood in the back.

Get the toolboxes with the railing around the perimeter. Let him look around the cab.

If it was still legal I'd probably transport my bucks strapped to the bumper in the manner you described.

Hauled many a deer outta the woods on the hood of my old CJ-5. No where else to put it...

That's why you leave the tailgate down. That's what people do around here when the want to show off anyway.

Throw em on top of the dog box, problem solved!
Like this, just add horns

We've got basically the same debate going on a thread on another forum I'm on. Guy posted some kill pics then threw in one with peta spelled out in ducks on his driveway. The reason I don't strap one to my hood is because I have a truck with a bed that gets used. I just feel like ya need to show a little respect to the animal ya just killed. Whether its ducks, deer, or any other kind of animal
ETA: Nothing wrong with showuing ya buddies or taking pics. But trust me if he's big enough to need showing off that rack is probably gonna stick up enough to show it off in the bed

I've considered throwing one across the front bumper of my CJ-7 but I'd rather not take a chance on blocking off airflow to my radiator. This is how I do it now. It's funny the looks I get going down the road. Hunters give me a thumbs up. yuppies look at me like I'm a murderer.

That's a good buck. Would've been a shooter next year.

When I took the archery class to be able to hunt NWRs, the instructer harped on this about 15 times.
