That's about what our blacks look like in cenla. We have buttermilks as well.

I would love to come across a buttermilk. I am just excited it wasn’t a Texas rat or a yellow belly/diamondback watersnak. That is almost always what it is when I come across one.

Fastest snake to strike I have ever encountered. Started before I was even 6' from him.

don’t even think about touching me dude.

This guy yesterday took a while to start striking. Cocked back...tail shaking...flattening out his neck but no strikes until the end of me messing with it. Then he threw out some pretty impressive long strikes. I used that long bent rod in the pic to move him. Didn’t feel like getting shitted on or bit trying to grab it.

We came across two gopher tortoises within an hour Saturday. Made my whole week. The first one was a big rascal.

Awesome! I saw one scootin' across the road on our last trip to Florida. If there had been a shoulder to pull over, I would have stopped for photos. But, I had traffic behind me and the tortoise made it to the grass and kept booking it. I don't get to see those guys since I live in northern Alabama.

I went out for a jeep ride/walk this morning with my camera.

Nerodia sipedon pleuralis (midland water snake)

I believe this is a young Lithobates sphenocephala (southern leopard frog), but it might be a pickerel frog.

Bufo fowleri (Fowler's toad)

Lampropeltis getula nigra (black king snake)

My wife just came screaming into the house. She was tossing some weeds into the wooded back part of the lot and a big snake, black with yellow stripes slithered away.

I looked it up and showed her pics of an Eastern King Snake. She said that was it. About 3 feet long.

I was excited because a couple of weeks ago I had a rat climbing on the bird feeder and little ones running out from under the shed. I bet that big fellow took care of them.

As an aside, thank you snake guys for helping me become educated about snakes. My heart rate still goes up around them, but it's getting better.

But for how long? From what I’ve read, they are still wanting to charge for third party hosting. It’s just not the astronomical fee they originally were wanting to charge.
