How’s the fishing up there in the winter?

The guide I went with earlier this year told me it was shite hot fishing when it was freezing outside. Looking at my calendar it might be February before I make it, but should provide some good relief after duck season ends.

Would anyone be interested in an OB fly fishing trip?
Make it a long weekend in February?

I’ll bring the beer.

The marsh for reds is always an option.

It is, I could fish two others on my boat if we decide to go that route.
A Chandy trip would be a blast if the weather cooperates.

Seems like the Beaver Bend trip may be a little less weather dependent.

Finally managed to fish a little today. Lots of action but nothing with any size till this guy sipped my popper. And I mean sippped...thought it was a bream fricking with it till I set the hook.

Anyone fish the Guadalupe river? I'm trying to plan a trout trip this year. Any advice on when to go? And what methods to use?

I would be down to rent the house boat in PAC for a weekend or a camp big enough to sleep bunch of people. Maybe get some people who have never been on a skiff or fly fished before to come.

So I lost my Fly Box this weekend fishing..... I think it was on the back deck when I took off, and never saw it again. Pretty bummed about this since I was starting to get a big collection of baits.

So I need some Rec's on your favorite Redfish fly's and where to order them.

Here is a video of the trip if you didnt see it in the other thread. I still dont know what im doing with a fly rod, but its still fun as can be!

What an idiot...

I think I have some duplicates, I can give you a few.

Nice video, pretty good shots for fishing and shooting video by yourself.

Working on getting a new setup and I was coming to get some advice on fly line. Then I see above post, thanks.

Any recommendations on type of fly line for reds? I’ve been reading up and I’m pretty lost. Fast taper, long taper, high forward weight etc...

With the vast fly line options it can be a bit daunting. Most on here will recommend a redfish taper or Wulff triangle taper. Both of these have short heads @ 30'. I think for LA waters these are probably the best suited for the task. If you are planning on traveling and doing some flats fishing you will most likely want an additional longer head line.

Generally for redfish in the marsh you want a floating weight forward line with a short head length (around 30').

I have Wulff triangle taper on my BVK set up because it's what bluemoons recommended lol. You can check it out next time we fish. I like it, but I've never used anything else.

I have Wulff Bermuda Triangle Taper on every reel I've got except my 4wt.
