Obama isn't competent enough to enact some broad agenda. Your guns and ammo are safe. As big a failure as he is, he would fail at that as well.

Its over people, move on. If you waited till the day after to plan for something that was highly likely to happen based on the polls, you deserve to get rolled by Toby.

I hope you're right, but "hope" isn't a strategy where I come from.

He sure got Obamacare pushed through.

Secret midnight votes, passing bills without reading them. What makes you think he wouldnt do the same with GC. The majority didnt want OV, but they damn sure got it. That would make him a legendary God among his people if he got Obamacare and sweeping gun control done.

I do think we are going to have a fight on our hands around the assualt rifle ban. He has openly admitted during his campaign that he will work to put it back in place.

I see the AWB going through easily. I'm most worried about ammo restrictions and things of that nature. End runs around the 2A.

ETA: Clinton got it through so I don't see them having any trouble with it in the political climate, especially in light of recent shootings.

so educate me here. I was a teenager who didnt care at the time as I didnt have any AW's. The ban is around the sale of AW's correct? It is still legal to own them, shoot them at a range, hunting, etc..?

You could still own them just couldn't buy new ones in certain form. Magazine restrictions, etc. they had a checklist of scary features that made a gun an "assault weapon". It didn't affect crime statistics whatsoever. It is strictly a feel good measure for bed wetting liberals.

ETA: I was 15 years old in 1994 when the last one was enacted.

Guess Where Obama Calls Home?

quote:

The Cook County Board of Commissioners voted 9-7 to impose a $25 tax on each firearm sold. The tax is expected to raise $600,000 in revenue in 2013. With the vote, the nation's third most populous county, with nearly 5.2 million residents, becomes the first large U.S. jurisdiction to approve such a measure, the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence said. "We want to highlight this issue of gun violence and we also want to add to our resources to address it," Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle told reporters on Friday.

Preckwinkle, who proposed the handgun tax, earlier this week abandoned an additional proposed tax of 5 cents a bullet because the tax in some cases would have exceeded the price of ammunition.

Preckwinkle. Now that's a liberal if I ever heard of one. You can't make this stuff up.

I don't see how people don't see this. But at the same time I'm kinda glad there are paranoid gun owners out there.

Maybe so but he would gladly support restrictions enacted by the U.N.
