Only cork I use.

I make popping corks out of sliding corks

I also do this. Pull the green stob out, run line through the cut on the cork, and replace said stob. Easy and quick to adjust depth.
Yup, that's how most people I know do it. May be another southwest la vs. southeast la thing. I fish big lake and use the sliding cork with the stopper, but everybody I know who fishes the grand isle area does it the hard way and uses those "popping corks"

Thanks for the knowledge. Heading to GI in a few weeks and I'm going to try a sliding cork.

For years the only cork i used in salt water was option three with the green plunger. Makes adjusting depth and switching from popping to cast and reel easy. Down side is they tangle easier than the new generation tie on rattle corks. I still carry some of each though. That versa maxx cork shows some promise in that it can be removed easily and you can add rattles.

it's great to suspend bait with. Start off with your line set too deep. The cork will lay on its side.Grab the stopper and pull down till the cork stands straight up.You know bait is off the bottom then. You can play with different suspend depths this way to target trout holding deep.I've fished 17' deep many times around the New Orleans area in 20' of water.

Dumas, a veteran Pontchartrain angler who has lit up the louisianasportsman.com message board the past year with pictures of all the giant trout he catches from the east side of the lake, said a sliding cork couldn’t be any easier to rig. “First you want to put on a bobber stop on your line,” said Dumas. “After that, slide on a bead, then the cork. At this point, I like to thread on a 3/8-ounce egg weight before I tie on the hook. A kahle hook works well, but I sometimes tie on a treble hook to help catch the light-biters.” Dumas adds the egg weight above the hook to keep the bait down in the strike zone. He has also discovered that spooling his reel with 40-pound-test Power Pro makes it easier to hook fish. “It’s not a matter of feeling a bite better or setting the hook quicker,” Dumas said. “I like the Power Pro because it floats on the surface, whereas mono will sink. This allows me to get a better hook-set because I don’t have to reel in all that mono slack before jerking.”

WTF man? Like or not, NOLA-area funds this po-dunk state, and last time I checked, the best inshore fishing in the world comes out of the region filled with "Where Y'ats".

Yeah, tell them. There is no commerce anywhere else in the state.

The sliding cork setup is flawed because that sliding nail knot slides badly on braid.

I used 2 and 3.
I love 3 because it can switch from a bottom Carolina rid to cork rig in less than 5 seconds
