I like the string knot thingies.

The string knot doesn't screw up your reel at all, if you're fishing deep with a cork?

Gotcha. Didn't know if the knot caused problem on the way out when you cast. Thanks.

here is a new cork product that is a craze in Texas:

I've read you can cast them a mile, but I'm not so sure about the line and leader both being tied to the top eye. Has anyone tried these yet?

i mean,I guess with the terminal end tied to the eye you still get the up and down action when the bait is popped.

n the circles I hang out in:
1. correct
2. is a rattling cork
3. is a popping cork, notice concave top.

picture of rig is a sliding cork.

number 3 can be used as a sliding cork if you run the line through the green peg. we usually don't use it like that cause we only use a sliding cork in depths over 4 feet. If your bait is that for down why would do you want to distract the fish from you live bait with a pop 4 feet over his head? so we use the egg cork for sliding rigs.

Direct contact with the bite. I like it. Going to rig something like that for next white perch cork season.

This is all I've ever used. I think people tend to overthink their setups. I've always kept it simple - tie on a Kahle hook, put a rattle cork about 2 feet above it, put a shrimp on the hook (or a jig head/plastic if applicable). Never used leaders or sinkers and never had a problem. I can't fish anymore, but I've always done very, very well. Where you fish and how you fish is a whole lot more important than how you're set up. That's not a brag - I fished Delacroix and Pointe a la Hache for 15 years but still couldn't get a boat 5 minutes from the dock without getting lost - but my fishing buddy could put you on the fish.
ETA - I've had people be "annoyed" by my rattle cork, but 10 minutes later they were always asking to borrow one.
