Was at lease today south of Houma - saw what looked to be 1 flock of approximately 15 bwt, not on our lease, but flying along the ICWW. Tide extremely high - worst bass fishing trip of the summer as well.

Going to Venice on opening weekend. Friend invited me to his camp. Can’t wait. Even if there’s no birds, we’ll find some fish.

If and when this storm comes, what is here will be gone. Also, the amount of rain in the forecast, that will put water everywhere and spreed the birds thin.

Agreed, going to be like after Isaac more than likely. Hell rice will be under too more than likely. Good early then they’ll spread out.

Hoping the storm moves in and out quick enough to have some feed left... it’s a long shot but a guy can hope....

How’s the SAV look in Venice this year. I know in Gibson, it’s back how it was 5-6 years ago. Im excited.

Any chance a small storm like this wouldn't completely destroy the venice vegetation? Maybe being on the west side will help? I know the one that came last year in October did a number on it.

This storm will be bigger than the one last October IMO. SAV looks greet down there now but likely not so much in two days. Two things to worry about waves pulling up the grass and rolling it out to sea and saltwater pushed in burning it and killing it. Both are most likely.

Figure on teal season and duck season being a bust this year and anything better than that will be a bonus.

Sadly I would agree based on what I saw last year. Last year for teal season the sav was thick and plentiful and when we went back in late October to scout, it was crazy how much it had changed.

The only hope is that Venice remains on the west weaker side and the storm moves through quickly. If it does there may be some grass left and you could get some regrow this time of year. Either way won’t be a normal year down there.

Was in Dularge today and didn't see a single teal. Have been hearing reports that a few were around, but from Jug's to Lake Merchant, I didn't see any. Water was pretty high and falling quick. Reds stacked up at runouts. Hopefully this storm doesn't hurt the ponds, they look pretty damn good right now. A little high water won't hurt to wash out the new salvania that has shown up in a few spots

I’ve been hunting above Lost lake since early 2000s, we’ve never had a good teal season. Not sure why that is either. I’m not 16 miles as the crow flies from Atch delta and even years when it was covered up we didn’t kill much.

That said, the ponds look the best they have in years. Cold weather must have done a number on the snails and salvania.
