I agree with chad504boy

The guys there for the most part are kind of rude. I always laugh when I go with my father in law bc he parks by the checkin bc he has a handicapped tag. When they give him crap about it he says: "look at the goddamned scars on my legs arse&$!@"

Once again I've never seen this happen. Hell, most of the guys that work there have handicap tags, themselves. I'm not being a homer because I work there, I'm speaking the truth from what I've experienced in my nearly 3 years with the organization. Most of us are friendly helpful guys, and a few gals too, who just want you to have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Question... Was the handicapped parking area paved or not when you last visited? (this will tell me how long it's been since you've been there)

I used to shoot sporting clays there occasionally (with clients). I was not unhappy when they quit hosting registered shoots.

Never shot handguns at Tallow Creek, but seem to recall hearing that you could not shoot jacketed pistol ammo.

FTR....

I live in Fox Branch Estates, just up 1085 from Tallow Creek. I hate that place with a passion but have been three times the last month simply due to it being two minutes from my house. Mr Johnny is good people. He's the only range guy I've met that I care for. He's going to make a knife for me as a Christmas gift for my FIL. The rest of them can eat a bowl of dicks as far as I'm concerned.

I see there are several of us Northshore guys here in the same proximity. We need a Northshore OBGT soon. I'd like to meet most of you guys.

e is cold and you want to leave but haven't packed up your guns (this sounds to me like the reason you were stuck waiting), we won't let you go because we can't have anyone touching firearms or ammo while the line is cold even if they're just packing up and not on the shooting bench. No exceptions!

pretty sure that was the situation

Eta guy wasn't rude about it but some of it seems overly nit picky

I live a couple hundred yards from the entrance on 1077. Still haven't been. I need to sight in my new 30-06 but I do not own a truck and hear that should probably wait until we haven't had rain for over a week before trying to get back there

You would be correct.

Same.

I agree with everything about Tallow Creek. If I'm in a pinch and need to check a rifle or something, but can't get up to Bogalusa, I'll ride over there. Otherwise, I avoid that place like the plague. The people out there are pretty lame.

I don't know how they feel about men of color out there. You should probably take CDaniel up on his offer when you sight in that Alt 6.

I'm down for a northshore OBGT. Maybe we can get something together at Honey Island.

I'm Hammond and I drive by tallow creek all the time but never had the nerve to try it based on negative reports. I've got several rifles I need to sight in/tweak and would jump on a get together at a good range

It's been a while don't think it was paved then. Don't think I've seen that particular person in a bit

I went out to Tallow Creek today since I live right next door and needed to sight in my rifle. It was a surprisingly good experience. If you can look past the shitty trailer park-like atmosphere, it gets the job done.

The range officer was very nice; I didn't catch his name though. They only charged me for 1 hr when I told them I was there an hour and a half.

I will say that Honey Island is much nicer, cheaper, and safer. If I plan on shooting a bunch of different guns and staying a while; I'll make the drive out there. However, no issues today at Tallow Creek.

They are open Wednesday-Sunday FYI.
