SUPPRESSOR SUGGESTIONS/QUESTIONS

I'm trying to decide between a SilencerCo Scythe Ti and a Dead Air Nomad TI to go on a bolt action 30 cal rifle (308, 300WM, and 300BO). I currently have a Silencerco Omega and Hybrid and have been really happy with them. Just looking for one a little lighter. Does anyone have experience with either or both? Or a recommendation for a different suppressor that is similar with a lighter weight? Any info. would be appreciated.
I'm also looking for a suppressor that can be used for a 9mm pistol and a PCC along with a bolt action 300BO (supers and subs). Any information/recommendations for one that would cover this would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm no expert at all, but I do have Scythe Ti on a Bergara 300aac bolt gun. I don't need anything more quiet than it is.

I looked hard at the Scythe, but found some reviews online about them exploding, and didn’t want to risk it for $1000 investment. ended up with the Dead Air Rdx30 ti for around the same price and have been very happy

I like my Q Thunder chicken for .30 cal. I use it on my 300 blk and my AR10.

for the .30 cal look at the Otter Creek Hydrogen S. They make it in 3 different lengths. The S is the middle length and weighs under 10 OZ.
I don't have experience with Otter Creek but all reviews I've seen are very good.
I have a Dead Air Sand man and a Q Thunder chicken. The dead air is heavy as crap but bullet proof. The Q is light but very long.
I bought a Cat TI White bread for my ARs. It's stupid light and does an amazing job suppressing the guns. It's one that I've had people stop me on the range to ask what it was. Also, it's a low back pressure so you don't get gasses in your face. I'd consider the ODB from Cat.
Another very highly reviewed silencer is the PTR Vent 1. Rize has one (I think that's right).
Basically, there are a lot of really good silencers out there right now. Do your research. The gun store won't always steer you in the right direction.

Every time I get interested in one (30 cal) I go to pewecience and it tells me the noise reduction sucks and I give up. If the NFA stuff goes away as planned, I'm just going to impulse buy one and see what happens.

Thanks to everyone for the info. In Texas right now, silencershop is selling them without any NFA requirements. you have to complete the same form for a background check similar to purchasing a gun, but that's it apparently.

I find it hard to believe that scythes are “exploding” from normal use. That has to be people shooting overbore of over pressure rounds through it.
Scythes are a very popular suppressor in the PRS community and I have heard zero about them “exploding”.

Agree 100%, I’m sure it’s perfectly fine for guys like me shooting at a target and then deer a few times a year
For $1000 (Not OT rich) I just wanted one that isn’t mentioned in the same sentence as “failure” and “exploded” on multiple forums lol

I have the polonium k on a 16” and I use it without hearing protection and it’s fine. Have a full size polonium coming.
At this point, I’m more concerned with getting it hearing safe vs max noise reduction. It’s not worth the trade off to me vs cost.
And I really like the OCL design with a standard nut connector….gives you a place to wrench it off…IYKYK
The Rugged Occulus on a 22 and a Wolfman on my Scorpion scratches that maximum quiet itch.

I read about one guy who said he had a weld fail. Silencerco promptly replaced it. I wouldn’t be afraid to buy one… it will likely be the next one I buy.

I just got the OCL Hydrogen L for my .308 bolt action. Heard lots of good about it and my first time out to the range with it I was very pleased.
No POI shift and I shot out to 500 yards. I got the L (9”) because I wanted max recoil reduction and it it comparable to the Area 419 Hellfire muzzle brake I had on prior.

Liberty Precision Machine Mach series (S or K)
Precision Armament TiTrex
For lightweight bolt action hunting cans, those would probably be near top of my list right now. Especially the precision armament. I care about size and first round pop, not absolute quiet. Just has to be "hearing safe".
For the 9mm one, you could actually get the LPM mach 38. Would cover everything you need. Or precision armament 36 cal.

I have a nomad TI xc. I also have a omega 300 and hybrid 46. Honestly, to my ear, all 30 caliber suppressor sound about the same. I shoot 6.8 Spc and a psa Ks47. I think the best thing about it is it is so light. One interesting thing also when I shoot 10 rounds or so at a bunch of pigs, that nomad ti xc gets super hot, noticeably hotter than the omega or hybrid. I think it would go perfect with a bolt gun.
I think the thing that gets the scythe in trouble is I don't think it has any barrel restrictions. Which sounds crazy to me because it seems like titanium isa more delicate metal.
