1 and 1/2 year old femaile yellow lab that is in her kennel during the day (because I'm at work and she can't be trusted to not chew up EVERYTHING). I try to run with her 2-3 days per week, but it makes no difference, she is still full of energy and chews everything in sight. I feed her Blue Buffalo adult food and she is up on her shots, heartworm meds. Anybody know of a supplement or drug that would help chill her out?

Run her everyday. Only way I get my lab to behave is to tire his arse out, and that takes consistent exercise - 30 minutes a day usually at least.

There's your problem.

She's just young and you aren't exercising her enough. She needs it every single day.

may not be because she is young. i have a 4year old female lab that is bat shite crazy. wide open 24/7 non stop energy, never wears out. My male is 3 and his exercise is to get up from a nap and eat a bone. Some dogs are just hyper

Try this method: LINK

Seriously, buy a bunch of tennis balls. Throw until your arm falls off or until dog collapses. Repeat until dog gets old.

Wow, muzzle and kennel all day like Hannibal lecter. Why do some of you have dogs if all you do is lock them up and worry about them?

My oldest shorthair is 14, he is not kenneled, he has free range of the 1st floor of the house. He has never been in kennels because he breaks out, he wears a muzzle because he opens doors and causes mischief. The muzzle is a very effective way of limiting the dogs ability to do things with his mouth...

Great response. I have a lab and basset hound, I put them outside when I'm at work and let them in when I'm home. That simple. If I had an apartment or didn't have a fence I wouldn't have a dog.

If you are running her on leash, try and find a place where you can take her off leash and let her run around as much as she wants. I take my german shorthairs to either the local dog park, or a field to let them run off leash for about 45mins-hour every day after I'm done working with them on retrieving.

Swimming will also wear her out big time.

Serious question: Can he drink with the muzzle on?

I just feed mine a hand full of benadryl... when he starts pissing himself when hes laying down, i figured hes had enough.

My choc lab is 3 and is full retard errrryday. I throw the tennisball or frisbee with him and he tires out fairly quickly. Him weighing 110# prob helps wear him out faster. I prob will never own another lab because of how hyper he is.... I just want a lazyass dog that drinks white cans with me.

A good dog is a tired dog. Labs need a lot of exercise or they get bored and tear shite up. If you live near a levee take him there and throw the tennis ball down the levee and make him run up

Go find where people run jog etc in your area find a hot arse chick that's a runner don't stalk her but you can tell the pace they keep and the weather if it's shitty weather and she is running boom!
We now call her a dog sitter give her your key she comes and gets your dog each day ( real runners run every damn day) she runs her every day you will have a very trainable & well behaved dog. For only a few bucks best money ever spent.
