After letting it lapse then waiting too long for the renewal I had to start all over again. Finally did everything and sent it in yesterday. Just using this as a reference point to see how long it will take to come in.

To those who recently got theirs, how long did it take?

Did you get your finger prints done at the police headquarters in Baton Rouge. This makes a pretty big difference in processing time. Other factors are divorce and out of state moves.

If your application is fairly simple it could take as little as 2 weeks. If you have DWI's, let people steal guns out of your vehicle at night, divorce, moves out of state, etc it can take up to 5 weeks or longer.

ask one of your deputies down in the ER and see if the local sheriff can help expedite the process

Mine took 2 or 3 months at the end of last year. Or maybe it was the year before, shite I can't remember. I'm im BR.

I had one misdemeanor charge on my background that I gave them all the certified paperwork to.

They were still backed up a couple of hundred applicants when I called two weeks ago. Only one lady was looking at them from what I was told

Submitted my renewal (hand delivered) on Feb. 7 and recieved it by mail on March 24th. Previous permit expired on March 19th. Call LSP on March 20th and was told it was processed and shound see it the following week. Clerk commented on the "new" computer system causing delays. She also mentioned new permits have a longer wait than renewals.

Took the class the morning of Feb. 7th in Prairieville, and drove straight to the LSP office from there. They had alot of new applicants waiting to be finger printed. Me & my buddy were the only 2 renewals, filing took maybe 10 minutes for us. Make sure you have the paper work in order and the money orders correct.
