From dipping? Oral cancer?

It has a 84% 5 year survival rate if it doesn’t get to lymph nodes.

I know a couple dentists that have never seen it caused by dipping. In like 15 years.

Actually had a buddy get told by a cardiologist today that if he didn't quit dipping he probably wouldn't make it to 60.
First I've heard of it affecting your heart.

Sunflower seeds are your friends when you have long drives or really need to concentrate on something. That’s when I still get a little tempted. I buy Bigs sunflower seeds by the case.

I used to ask my dentist all the time about how bad dipping really was. He said in all his years of practicing (20+ years) that he has seen 3 actual cases that could be attributed straight to dipping. He said smoking and drinking is much worse than dipping for oral cancers, especially on the tounge, but that also doesn't take into account the throat cancers which is a whole different kind of doctor set like ENT's and Gastro docs.

Shite a duck hunting buddy of ours in Monroe that is a dentist chews, not dips. He said that is better since you move it around a lot and it doesn't stay in one place. I would love to start again but knowing my luck I would be the 1 in a million guy to get cancer and that would suck knowing I left my family over a nasty arse habit like dipping snuff.

I quit for 9 years and started again a few years ago. Was smoking lot of cigars in that 9 years. Need to quit again.

With regards to the throat cancer, I know I inadvertently swallow a shite ton of dip spit throughout each day.

Wanting to quit is the key.

I have a good friend who smoked a pack or more a day. She adopted a baby and stopped smoking the day they brought the kid home.

It has been 20 years and she never smoked again. It was both amazing and a testatment to what humans can do when they want to do something. The opposite is true as well.

It was a few weeks before I felt okay

I know 3.

One guy had a small amount removed from his gums in his 20's, another guy the same but in his 60's. I also have a friend whose dad is one of those guys with a fricked up jaw from cancer. That being said, all 3 were people who had a dip in at all times and the one who had a chunk of his jaw removed was also a heavy smoker and drinker.

I quit for 3 years after college, then one day in law school I saw my roommate's can when I was about to read my homework for the next day. Thought it would make reading the law less boring to dip, started dipping only when reading, then after lunch, then driving. Bam right back in it, and it's been 15 years since I started back again.

I guess what I’m saying is you’ll be fine unless you’re sipping a can a day every day. Then you’ll probably lose a few teeth or have some lip cut out

I went cold turkey January 2021 after 17 years. That first night without the after dinner dip was the worst damned feeling. Day 3 and that second week were the hardest. I sucked on a lot of sunflower seeds (Biggs black pepper). I still dream about that sweet delicious flavor of Copenhagen straight.

I don’t regret quitting, but damn I miss it.

I guess it’s better than my heart exploding though.

I’m sorry, but this is a really stupid take on cancer
Cancer sucks. Doesn’t matter if you survive it or not. You will always be scarred in one way or another from it.

Everyone in my family except me has had cancer, four of us.
My mom was the only one that survived.

Lots of bad things pop up around cancer and cancer treatments.

This is my one vice other than drinking beer, started when I was 14 because it was cool and am now a grown man and have never stopped.

My morning routine : Cup of coffee dip, eat dip, and so on.

I've never even considered stopping but should

No doubt. I’m saying that it’s actually rarely from dipping and if you do get it, it’s very survivable.
