may end up getting a 661 someday
Woof. Thats a big bitch.
441 is the ideal size for a 25" bar IMO. It's has PLENTY of power for that. I run a 25" bar on my 391 all the ttime for nearly 10 years now and it'll pull a sharp chain good enough of a full bar cut. A 441 will scream with a 25" bar. A 661 is like 36" bar stuff. Your average dude don't have enough equipment to deal with anything that requires a 36" bar.

I have the 271 and it’s been a great saw. Put it through its paces after Ida and have no complaints. Mine has a 20” bar and enough power to pull it pretty well. But as mentioned above, the 261 is the goat. It’s more expensive, but if I was using mine more than 5-7 times a year, I would spend the extra money on it.

I had one and sold it. The day I bought it I was walking out of the door of the saw shop and a guy walking in said, "You got one of them Paul Bunyan saws..."
He was right. It's big and overkill for most of the stuff we do around the deer stands and cutting trees that fall off fences.
I now have a smaller stihl with an 18" bar and it's much more in tune with what we use it for.

I have an MS180 with a 12" bar and that thing probably gets 10x the use that my 391 does.

It gets hard as a rock. A small rock, but harder than hell.
Seriously though, that saw was bigger and heavier than necessary for most work around the farm.

I’ve cut a lot of trees on our farm over the years. Some 60 inches in diameter. Last fall cut probably 500-1000 logs. Have had the same Stihl ms 250 now for probably 15 yrs. It replaced a Sears Craftsman and is as good if not better a machine. Only thing I have had an issue with is the gas caps leak when sitting up and you have to, it seems, buy all OEM
parts through a dealer and not online.

Same here. I’ve always had shite saws and even have a craftsman battery saw that surprisingly does decent (except the battery packs have malfunctioned).
Bought the MS180 and it does everything I need.
First cut I made with the new saw and chain made me realize how shitty my other stuff is.
Just got my hands on an older Stihl fs55 weedeater and it’s a beast.
I’m done buying shite equipment. Stihl for me from now on.

Yep. We’ve got a few dead cottonwoods close to 4’ in diameter. We’re going to rent a bucket truck or boom lift to work them from the top down and then use some rope or cabling with an IH 315 Magnum to do the rest.
Tree removal up here is double the cost of the saw for this job, so I figure buy a new toy and write it off come tax time.

Ended up buying the echo cs-590.
Specs were extremely close and it was $50 cheaper.

Its a way bigger saw than any I've ever run. I don't think there will be anything at my place that I won't be able to tackle with it.

I'd like to thank the OB for (yet again) helping me part with some more money. Picked up my new Echo Timberwolf today.

Live on 20 acres and so a lot of cutting. Especially after the 2020 hurricane season. Have had an MS 250 for 10+ yrs and love it except for that Dang gas cap. Also never put ethanol fuel in it. Only other problem with that manufacturer is you cant buy major OEM parts online last I checked. Got to do all through their dealers

Get the higher grade farm models....Lowes doesn't carry those.
When buying a chainsaw, invest a few hundred bucks more....
I went the cheap route a few times, never again.

He already bought one it seems. I did change my 590 to a more aggressive chain. I forget which one. It makes quick work or any tree though.
