I guess we’ll know the truth if he tops the books. Don’t forget, these HB dudes are running a business.

True, but last I checked you couldn’t purchase a deer hunt.

It’s really impressive that they were able to keep that deer alive and quiet for so long.
I mean honeybrake is like 20,000 acres. That a huge chunk of land for even the most traveled deer. I be willing to bet that deer stayed in a core 800-1000 yards where they killed it. Also if management correctly Tensas, Concordia, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Madison, and West Carroll can rival anywhere.

They take a few mature trophy bucks a year and they are gonna cost between 10k-50k all in. They do have some management buck hunts (4k-8k) and some doe with kill fees, plus all lodging costs. They manage 20K acres of the old delta plantation, no or low fence free range deer that are kind of geographically land locked per say but can and do leave. Realtree has an exclusive right to the property as the fund a large portion of it thru (hunts) but in reality the Jordan family paid close if not more than $100k to lay claim and hunt that particular deer. Been about a 3 year process. And others have had to let it walk because of that price tag and commitment to the Jordans.

Someone on Facebook summed it up nicely when they said people like Tyler are not hunters, they're shooters.

You are correct Stitches, I've known them, been around them and have watched them in the hunting industry for over 30 years. Bill was the more genuine hunter back in the day and a class act when that camera was on. But it was money and business when its off. Drop Tyler off on a Monday on most Louisiana public land with a climber and a rifle and he will struggle to have a doe killed by Friday. He is a coddled, spoiled daddies Money shooter. ZERO personality and as hard as they attempt can't put on a show when the camera is on like Bill and his crew could back in the day. Look 200' free range deer are a commodity in the commercial hunting world nationwide. When they are identified the bidding begins. Highest price and best personality and friendship built gets the rights to shoot it. And when they happens, they POUR the money at it to make it mess up. TONS of feed, supplements, food plots, stand locations and dozens of cameras tracking all of its movements. Don't sit there reading this and think its by chance, luck, and great hunting acumen. IT ISN'T. The sponsors that fronted that money need that video payday!!! Tyler Jordan just delivered and the checks are about to pop, then it leads to you grabbing the bull shite products it promotes, off the shelf thinking #1 they work, #2 you have a snowballs chance in hell of killing anything short of that scrub 6 you have on camera. Is what it is. They selling dreams to your wallet

I'm impressed that deer didn't get shot at night from a spotlight on the diversion canal levee

"Free-Range" or not, that deer still had an ear tag and a name. They've been raising that deer in the middle of thousands of acres of agriculture land and intensly managed. You're not growing that on your 50acres of family land or finding it getting enough supplements for a rack like that on public land.

I doubt a deer that old would go too far unless he was chasing does or running from high water.

As long as they keep the does food, cover and shelter/low pressure they aren't going anywhere either.

They probably brought in some genetics too.

I saw the manager of Honey Brake's facebook post. It has a green ear tag. The post is still up. If I knew how to post the pic I would. I don't know if that's some special DMAP tag or something for after the kill, but it had big arse green tag in it's ear.

It’s almost like the state record should have an asterisk beside it if it is. Even though it’s not a high fence just the fact that multiple people have had chances or could have shot it just doesn’t seem right.
When I think state record I think of a buck everyone was trying to kill and would have killed even years before but never got the chance cus he was an old warrior buck a gladiator!!

I always find the day after the hunt picture to be odd.

You take a gutted deer out the cooler, drive it to a picturesque scene, and put your camo back on to get a staged picture that is the equivalent of a glamour shot.

Sad to me how the naysayers come out so fast any time someone does something like this.

Says a lot about our society that we automatically assume there was suspect conditions involved any time someone kills a big deer.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I think it has more to do with the fact that this kill was made possible entirely by having unfettered access to daddy's money, and involved precisely zero woodsmanship or hunting prowess.

I did that just the other day. I killed a buck at last light and he died in a very thick spot. We got pics where he dropped, on back of the four wheeler, and then by the lake the next morning after we hunted. It was cold that night, so I gutted him. The pics are just all part of appreciating the buck. The lighting is usually better in daylight.
