Bachman's Fox Squirrel? Google is saying Eastern Louisiana, most of MS, all of Alabama, and portions of Georgia, South Carolina, and TN.

I've only killed them near Tupelo along the Natchez Trace. I haven't seen them anywhere else while hunting.

You can see a normal and a black phase of these at the St. Francisville park any day of the week.

I've seen the regular fox squirrels I've killed them and a few black ones at Cat Island. Never seen one of the Bachman's, though. You talking about Parker Park or the Sports Park?

Seen them all through Natchez, Vicksburg, Mississippi river parishes and counties.

Seen a few in St. Tammany, Washington Parish and Pike County.

I had a black blazed face sitting on a limb in Atchafalaya spillway. My choices to kill it were 30\30 or .22 pistol. Took a shot with pistol and missed.

Good bit in Pearl River. They seemed pretty easy to kill. They were big, dumb, and slow. My Catahoula caught a couple of them.

On the map, it's called West Feliciana Parish Park. It has ball fields, a pond and disc golf course.

Dang, I've never seen them out there but I'm probably not paying close enough attention. Just regular fox squirrels and cat squirrels. I go to the bow range and the bike trails there almost every weekend.

Tree just to the right of the pond. The picture I have of the melanistic one isn't nearly as close.

Like the chuckle heads here. I have killed very few. One hit the ground and you would have thought the thud came from a coon.

Hunt or hike the tram trail on the south tract of Tunica Hills wma. I’ve never seen a black blaze face but plenty reds with white snouts and front feet along the tram trail.

Is it bad I've never heard of a blaze face squirrel in my life? I've only heard them called fox squirrels.

the OP is not talking about black squirrels. he is referring to the large fox squirrel. (aka blaze face)

eta: nevermind you were not responding to OP. sorry about that.

There was one mounted in an old store in Lettsworth years ago. The thing was damm near big as a coon. Just wondering if they're in the Clinton area, I haven't seen one.
