They have their place, but I prefer bait casters almost 95% of thebtimevover them.

Pros: great for heavy winds
Cons: accuracy

love them. I have several. I use braid on all of them.

They definitely have their place in a boat for more finesse type fishing or using smaller lures or free lining live bait. Also nice when fishing in the wind.

I am better with my Calcutta than any spinning reel 150% of the time. More accurate, cast farther, easier with wind. I love a bait caster. But when I was learning to fish I was always told spinning reels are for noobs so I have a slanted view on them

Cast a mile and wind isn't a factor. Anyone can use them

Prefer spinning when fishing with a cork especially with live bait, or high wind, but usually use a bait cast 99% of the time. Also like a spinner when fishing several people in a boat easier to throw without having to worry about a birds nest.

Always have a couple spinners on the boat for the wife or noobies.

Love them for the right job. They're great for swim baits and fishing with corks.

I'm pretty damn accurate with mine. Just takes practice. Yesterday is was bouncing my bait off the HWY 11 bridge bank-shot style.

Only time I'd ever use a spinning reel is if I backlash the 4 other baitcasters i bring with me. Which has never happened I feel awkward with a spinning reel.

Older Curado or Chronarchs IMO, but I prefer a lower profile and more room to fix a lash if needed.

I flip mine so the are right hand retrieve.
I have 2 that get used for specific presentations, flukes, and shakey head.
