At some point in mid-July the regulations will be 15 specks with a 12 inch minimum. While I can live with this, the fix was in.

Don't hate it. I'm glad to see that they are just lowering the limit and not upping the size. Going to 15" would make it very hard on the east side of the state. I'm glad they didn't go overboard with the limit, though.

Yep. If me and my buddy go home with 30 instead of 50, we'll live. It's really not a big change nor, quite frankly, will it have any effect on what I was bringing home anyway. 15 keepers was always a great day.

it's what i was hoping for.... my take is that raising the size would mean many many more dead throwbacks....

As a floridian keeping 12" specks just seems crazy to me.

We have a 3 fish limit here now with a 15-20 slot

What I can't wrap my mind around is how they figure there is a low population problem because recreational fishermen are catching too many..?... ? ..!...?

The answer is that the collapse isn't caused by overfishing its been caused by a massive water quality fiasco caused by the state and the LaDWF is powerless to fix this issue.

But people are still limiting out... so... is the species really threatened?

Yes it is really threatened.

Other finfish impacts include a sharp drop in black drum landings, down 53 percent in the Vermilion-Tech basin and 43 percent in the Calcasieu basin; overall commercial black drum landings are down 31 percent year to date.

IF, and I stress IF, this is the decision I can live with it.
